  An 'ok' stay

  We was given a buyagift 2 night getaway voucher as a christmas present so this mini break was the gift and we was very much looking forward to it. We reviewed this b&b online and the reviews were fine so we called Carolyn and booked. Carolyn was initially pleasant to speak to but did make it apparent that these vouchers were difficult to deal with but was happy to make the booking and confirmed everything in an email to me. Shortly before our arrival date of 16th June my husband called Carolyn to see if we could pay extra to upgrade our room. She said she would see what she could do but again it is very difficult with the vouchers. On arrival on 16th June we was greeted by Carolyn and informed that she was full, that an upgrade was not available and for the 3rd time that the vouchers are troublesome for her to deal with. Our room was on the top floor. It did have a sea view which was nice. It was very clean and we did have everything we needed for a b&b stay. Clean towels and tea making facilities. My minor complaints about the room was that the tv was the size of an ipad and that the window was very small and the weather was very hot on our stay, so there was hardly no air in our room and as we were on the top floor it was very hot at nights. Our only breakfast morning (the 1st morning) was average. We were on time at 8.30am and there was only 2 couples (including us) and 1 single lady ordering. The breakfast was undercooked for us. Carolyn was very chatty to other customers, asking about their days out but was very straight to the point with us. On the evening of our 2nd nights stay it became very apparent that the b&b was empty! We noticed that both evenings were very quiet, nobody coming or going from other rooms, no lights on in other rooms, no other cars in the car park. My husband has a bad knee and spent 2 nights walking up and down stairs when we offered to pay for an upgrade and was declined this because we were 'voucher' customers. We felt that we were not worthy customers and were put out of the way because we had been given a gift voucher to stay here. Even on our leaving day and taking our bags to our car we was simply asked 'are you having breakfast or going?'. It was a clean place to stay but i would not advise staying here if you have a voucher as it is apparent that it is an inconvenience to the owner so i would not stay here again because of this.

  A week in Eastbourne

  Devonia is a small Guest House on the sea front in Eastbourne. It is stayeon the edge of town and there is a small car park along with plenty of free parking in the streets near by. You will get a warm welcome, good food and a very clean and well kept room. We stayed for a week and would return if we go to Eastbourne again.

  Excellent

  We were brought a 2 night stay away for xmas so we had a voucher. The hotel was very clean and we had a twin room on the ground floor which was lovely. Breakfast was basic but very nice, would stay there again.

  A lovely stay.

  Have just returned home after a 3 night stay here and it was lovely. We had the seaview room with balcony and it was spacious and extremely clean. The en suite was a good size, clean again and the shower was lovely and powerful. Carolyn was a good host who was happy to help with everything. Because of Corona virus, Carolyn explained that things were a little different eg breakfast could not be laid out on display etc but it did not spoil our stay at all. Carolyn was happy to supply us with extra tea bags, coffee and biscuits at any time. Breakfast was hot and tasty. This was our first time in Eastbourne and would 100% come back to stay at Devonia and recommend it highly.

  Great B & B

  Just had a very enjoyable 4 night stay at the Devonia. Beautiful room, spotlessly clean, amazing breakfast which set us up for the day. Felt very safe. Terry and Carolyn very friendly. Would heartily recommend to anyone visiting lovely Eastbourne. Will definitely stay again. Thank you.
