  Dawn at the front desk is Awesome! Review of Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center Reviewed today via mobile I had a last-minute trip to Detroit, arrived after midnight we were checked in by dawn at the front desk and she was very friendly and helpful. I really appreciated her kindness. She friendly, knowledgeable, and ever so helpful. Dawn is a credit to Marriott. Date of stay: May 2020

  Decent hotel near the airport

  We stayed here one night prior to an early morning flight out of DTW. Booked a King room. Check in was efficient. For some reason the hotel website says they charge $7 for parking, but that wasnt our experience. Its an open lot. When we arrived to our room, the AC did not work. The room was warmer than the hallway. A call down to the front desk had the situation resolved very quickly as they moved us to another room (also gave the option to have maintenance come which we declined). The room was spacious, bed and pillows soft and comfortable, and there were plenty of TV channels. The thermostat is back toward the door and not in the main room and the AC blows directly on the bed. It can get a bit cold with AC running due to these two things. The top of the desk had dirt or something similar on it, otherwise the place was clean. The shuttle runs every 15 minutes and is very punctual which we appreciated. The restaurant was open until 11pm and quickly made up our food when Uber Eats fell through. I had the wings and fries which were good and my wife had the chicken Caesar. She placed it in the fridge to eat the next day and it had become frozen, so beware of the fridge temps. Overall a good stay and would certainly stay here again.

  Layover

  Ive stayed here in the past always had a great stay. The staff from the van driver to checkin staff have always been great. This time on the 11th of October 2020. I was disappointed by what I smelled in the hallway walking to my room. I could smell a strong odor of marijuana. I was in room 262. I prefer to not have to smell marijuana or be around it. I dont smoke but Im the no smoking policy also applies to marijuana smokers as well. I hope on my next layover here I dont have to smell it.

  Two night stay

  I thought the hotel was remodeled? How many years ago? My room was old and well used. I was very disappointed? Because of covid I decided to stay in a Marriott because I was expecting what the brand delivers. I was very disappointed with this old hotel and dirty room. 10/22/20

  Clean

  Detroit Airpot Marriott has a great location about 5 minutes from the Airport Terminal. Room rates are very reasonably priced. Rooms are very clean. I second other reviewers who said the hotel is tired. It does need a good renovation but the overworked and pleasant staff made up for it with a great attitude and hospitable welcome. They're doing the best they can do. I really felt sorry for them because we all know how restaurants and hotels are struggling these days. A renovation would be nice. If I had one complaint it's that bottles of wine at the bar (takeout only) is marked up by 400%. That's excessive. I would have no problems staying here again or recommending it.
