  Hotel de playa bueno y tranquilo

  Vinimos al hotel de rebote, porque no nos pudieron alojar en el Hotel Marilena. En principio nos dijeron en el Marilena que era un hotel de igual categoría. En el Dolphin Bay, nos dijeron que era de superior categoría. Realmente, en algunos aspectos era superior al Marilena: ubicación al lado de la playa (luego te puede tocar o no una habitación con mejores o peores vistas). Las habitaciones eran más espaciosas. También había más variedad de bufet (aunque los pescados y carnes no los cocinaban bien y resultaban sosos). El picnic era más amplio que en el Marilena. La piscina y la animación sociocultural, similares. Pero, me resultó un poco frío. Desde luego había menos gente alojada (lo cual es una ventaja para quien quiera más tranquilidad). Lo bueno que tuvo el hotel es que en la recepción nos atendió un negro muy amable, ¡en español!, lo que nos ayudó bastante. Y a la salida del hotel, había una casa de alquiler de coches económica, atendida por una polaca (llamada Beata), muy simpática.

  Did not meet the expectations

  I will start with the good things. It's really close to the airport. The staff was really trying to do their best and over the 4 night stay we didn't met anyone who was not in a mood. Also the animation team was doing a great job. The rooms, pools and territory are clean and well maintained. Despite the stones on the coastal line the beach is pretty nice. The drinks are pretty standard drinks what you could expect for the AI option. For extra charge they offer also different cocktails, which were actually pretty good. We also enjoyed the Greek night with grilled food (which was for additional fee). Bad things: On our arrival we were upgraded from the standard double room to a family bungalow. The bungalows are really outdated and in need of reconstruction, therefore, we asked if it's possible to get a better room for extra charge. Apparently they do not have better rooms and we very already given the best room. The food was decent. I wouldn't return unless they would make a full reconstruction of the hotel

  Great and safe vacation

  1. Reception We travelled to Greece from 22nd to 29th July as a group of 3 adults and one child (1,5 years). The hotel is close to the airport, about 15 minut by bus. We arrived around 11.00 a.m., so we expected to have to wait for our rooms until 4 p.m. But the check-in was quick and easy nd we got the keys immediately! We also got an upgrade of the room: two separate rooms next to each other instead of one family room. We could also choose between accomodation in a bungalow and in the main building (which was finally our choice). 2. Hotel The hotel consists of one main building and bungalows (many of them were empty). There are 2 swimming pools, one of them with toboggans. Sunbeds and parasoles are free of charge both by the pools and on the beach. Hotel was half empy, the guest are mostly from Germany, Russia, Czech republic, Poland. All personnel were wearing masks/shields and gloves all the time. Guests do not have to wear any mouth/nose protection but are advised to keep safe distances. 3. Room Our rooms were of standard quality, nice, spacey, with bath tube, air-condition and balcony with sea view. There were some cosmetic products in the bathroom on the first day. The safe is free of charge, in the minibar there was one bottle of water. We also got a bottle of wine, fruit plate and drinks in the minibar as a present for loyal guests. It was very pleasant. The baby cot was bad (very high but extremely soft mattress which did not help much to cover the uneven bottom of the cot), but the baby didn´t care so we did not complain. Cleaning is done only if you order it at the reception desk. If you don´t, nobody will come to e.g. carry out the trash or refill your toilet paper. We did not need to e.g. get changed our towels everyday, so we asked for cleaning only once. It was not perfect (the floor was not swept sufficiently), but OK. The other days we just took the waste out ourselves. Cleaning ladies are pretty loud in the hallways. We noticed it when the baby was sleeping in the room after lunch everyday. 4. Animation There were only 5 animators, but they tried their best. Guests can take part in some sport activities, minidisco, in the evening there were some simple fun programs (music quizz, couple games on the stage, disco night). There were no dance shows like last year (probably because of the lack of staff and only few spectators). 5. Restaurant Because of COVID 19, there is no self service, you have to ask the staff to give you drinks, soup, vegetables, meat, side dishes, simply everything (except of some fruits or sweets, that are packed and you can take it without assistance). I understand the reasons, but it is a bit unpleasant to have to ask even for glass of water I think that a bottle of water that a guest could take for his family during the meal would do (with no additional risk of COVID and it would also be a relief for the bar staff). The food was very good, sufficient choice. Ice-cream is available for lunch and dinner. The restaurant staff is great, friendly and try hard. However, sometimes you have to wait longer for food or drinks (for reasons mentioned above). Special thanks to Sofia, Irini, Vlad and Georgios (I´m sorry for probably incorrect spelling). Beach tavern offers mostly pizza, hamburgers, fruits, salads. 6. Bars The number of bars is reduced compared to last year´s situation (which is understandable). During the day only the beach bar is opened, in the evening just the hotel bar is available. The bar staff is great and professional. I want to thank especially to Minos and Vlad at the main bar. Good job, guys . There was usually only one staff member at the beach bar at a time (maximum two) who did their best to keep up with all the guest requests (cockails, beer, water, ice-cream, coffee). Nektarios, thank you for your hard work and patience! I would appreciate if the bar near the amphitheater would open at least when evening entertainment takes place. 7. Beach The beach is sandy, very clean with plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas for free for hotel guests. The sunbeds are desinficated every day. Thank you, Manos, for your care. The sea was rough (there was red flag for 3 days out of 7), but we enjoyed it anyway. 8. Conclusion Great hotel that copes very well with COVID situation, we will definitely go back. The drawbacks from my point of view: - Room cleaning only when you ask for it. The idea is wise, but I think that trash should be taken out automatically at least every other day. - Even drinking water is not for self-service. More bottles of water at the minibar or bottles available during the meals at the restaurant would be probably welcomed both by the guests and by the bar staff. I want to thank the manager of Dessole Dolphin Bay Resort for rooms upgrade, bottle of wine and other special treatment that we have experienced as regular guests.   We have just returned from dessole dolphin bag resort and already looking at returning there again after a wonderful stay. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful even though they are a lot busier adapting to the changes due to COVID. There are queues for food and drinks, now its no longer self service, but werent often queuing for long. The whole hotel was immaculate, the Staff were constantly cleaning everywhere. The atmosphere was pleasant and the animation team were great at what they do. We loved our stay at this hotel and cant wait to return next year.

  Perfect sea+beach

  Hotel was 50% full which made our holiday even better. Beach was cleaned every day, due the windy weather the sea had a waves which was fun to play with :) Food was delicious especially pizza from the beach bar. Staff was very kind and helpful. We dont even care about face masks cause what you can do anyway ;) Swimming pool was enough for morning swim. Only small thing is that hotel using too many plastics for drinks and food. And the cups for drinks are too small so be prepared for frequently orders at the bar but you can use to it. Thank you all members of the hotel for our lovely vac!
