    Very nice stay in Avoriaz

    We've really enjoyed our stay in Hôtel des Dromonts in Avoriaz. We tried some tasteful cocktails homemade by the bartender. We have been well welcomed by the reception. The outside jacuzzi offers a wonderful view through the mountains. You can choose between the 2 restaurants. It's possible to go skiing directly from the hotel.

    If I could 0 stars I would

    Firstly, I want to mention that I have never left a negative review on any site. You can see from the reviews I previously posted on TripAdvisor they have always been positive. From personal experience in my own job, I know how unfair reviews can affect a business so avoid this, and service really has to be bad for me to say something. However, due to the truly terrible experience I have had with Hotel des Dromonts I am sadly writing a negative review. I had a trip to the hotel booked for the start of January but due to a recent accident (my father was paralysed after a fall) I had to cancel the holiday completely. As Im sure anyone can imagine, family must come first in these circumstances and my parents need support at this time. At the start of December I requested to cancel the booking and asked for the hotel to waive the fees (on booking.com) and my husband sent a follow up email explaining the circumstances. The hotel was not fully booked at this time, so we thought that as they had not turned down any business because we had a booking and it was a month in advance they may be kind and help us - plus we had planned to come out later in the year, which we mentioned. To this email we never received a reply. My husband sent two follow up emails, called the hotel numerous times to be hung up on as no one spoke any English and then I sent a further 2 messages on booking, to again receive no reply. If Hotel des Dromonts had replied and said they were unable to accommodate the request due to strict policies, or that they had turned down business to hold our room, I could understand and accept this - I would be disappointed but I certainly wouldnt write a negative review, however at such a difficult time and for a company to hear such a story and not to even bother to respond in any way shows no morals or even the most basic customer service. I honestly just hope no one else receives such a dismissive experience at such a difficult time and perhaps the hotel can learn from this and treat their customers with at least some sensitivity.

    Wonderful Hotel

    I stayed here in Jan 2020 for a weeks skiing holiday with my partner and had a wonderful time. We were in contact with the reception staff before arriving and they were exceedingly helpful and patient pointing us in the direction of ski hire, lift passes etc. On arrival we found the staff to be delightful and always smiling, courteous and helpful. We found our room very hot and they did everything they could to make us more comfortable which they succeeded in! The room was wonderful - it was quiet, the bed was comfy, lovely shower, enough storage space, glorious view etc. The hotel has a spa with hamman, saunas and an outdoor jacuzzi which is included in the room rate and was a hi-light of our stay. We hired our skis from the Ski Shop across the road and kept them in the hotels ski room. All easy and convenient. There is a discount for ski hire here if youre staying at the hotel. The only disappointment for us was the restaurants which I have reviewed separately.

    Best ski vaccation

    I must say, Ive been traveling a lot and the general manger in this hotel is a super star! Our shuttle got cancelled on our departure date, the manager drove us to Geneva himself! Besides that he was being the most supportive and helpful employee Ive ever met at a hotel. 6 star management!

    Excellent customer service!

    This is a hotel with a difference or two; and its really quite special. Whoever designed this place back in the 1960s obviously didnt enjoy straight lines. Wherever you look in the original areas, theres not a right angle to be found and its awe inspiring to look around and wonder how on Earth they worked it out. And beyond the architecture, the decor and design inside never ceases to impress and stimulate. Worth a visit for by itself! But the trump card really is the staff. The reception staff are the easiest people to get along with youll meet for a long time. No question is ever bothering them and they patiently replied several times before we even left home. During the stay they were most helpful. Special mention goes to Eléonore in reception and the Portuguese couple who run housekeeping. Wed be delighted to return to this wonderful hotel one day. To not spoil this review, I shall write separately in the restaurants section though. For now, lets say wed probably book bed & breakfast unless things improve.
