A hidden gem - ein kleines Landhotel der Extraklasse! We have been staying at "Der Bornerhof" on the weekend and completely enjoyed our stay. The house is very private, small, calm and beautifully decorated with only 8 rooms. Our room was a double room in the besement with two windows, where we could see the garden. It was fully eqipped with a very luxurious atmosphere, with a sofa, table and chair, a cosy double bed and a spacious bathroom with both, shower and bath tub. For dinner you have to go our, but the "Gut Knittkuhle", which serves a variety of good german dishes, is only 2 minutes away by car. For breakfast they serve a variety of different things, coffee/tea/hot chocolate/juice, fruit, yoghurt, bread, cheese, cold cuts, and eggs made to your liking... Also the library, the living room with the fireplace and the gardens looked very pleasant. We will definetely be back, maybe also with several people to have a meeting there.

Excellent ServiceThis tiny hotel has excellent service and a excellent people wring there, extraordinary. Three ladies give every guest a very special home, the stay has to be "like home", I loved it very much. City-lovers will be annoyed.

Nice, but a little peculiarStayed at der Bornerhof during an exhibition in Cologne. The hotel itself is more like a country zimmer - an old house, with its beauty on one hand and corkiness on the other. My room was at the attic, at the top of quite loud wooden stairs. The floor in my room was also noisy, and most windows had no shades. The shower was small and crowded, and I learned to find that I should avoid the water, which were from the local well, On the good side, I had a good sleep, the bed was comfortable, the WiFi was at a good level. The breakfast was very nice, and a local lady who prepared it made sure everyone enjoys it. The local country cat was also a nice bonus which you don't get at regular business hotels. Location is only comfortable if you drive a car, so that's a limit to consider beforehand. All in all, it was nice, but a little peculiar.

It's a B&B, not a hotelThis "hotel" is actually incorrectly labelled. It should be a B&B, and should target tourists. We booked a few rooms for a trade show. Were promised that a restaurant was just next door. But the place is so far out in the middle of nowhere, that the roads look like dirt tracks. The hotel is an old house, a farm with horses. Idyllic yes, with roses and a large garden. But in many ways surreal. When you arrive, and on many other occations, you are greeted by the hotel dog. It will jump up on you, it may bite your hand, it will beg when you eat the table. Not something you'd always want in hotels when dressed nicely. Our rooms were old, some of them smelled like mold and unsused, the smell never went away. One room was in an annex, just next to the outdoor seating. Like a garden shed turned into a "hotel room". Bathroom access through what looked like a closet door. There is of course no restaurant nearby, next edible is 3 km away. We arrived at night, and since the water can't be used for drinking (posted), the only water was 0.25L from hotel room. Breakfast is served in a room below lobby, probably an old wine cellar. The food is made to order. Unfortunately not best quality, bread feels like rubber. They need a toaster.. Communication is also not the best. Packages were sent to the hotel, and nobody informed guests about them. Instead, the dog ate a corner of the box. And just to summarize this surreal place: last day at breakfast, the dog runs into the room, almost starts to eat from the plate. After the dog a young man with only pants, no shirt comes running in, apologizing. But the dog is either deaf or badly raised. It does not listen. So.. if you like dogs, and you like the countryside with nothing around you, this is ok. It's NOT quiet, there is DUS airport close by. And autobahn can be heard clearly. For business: avoid at all costs. NOT recommended.

Charming small family run hotelRoom 6 ground floor, not accessible for wheelchairs. A lovely decorated room with a very comfortable bed and nice bathroom with shower and bath. We arrived just after 18.00 hrs and we found an envelope with a warm letter to great us. No hotel desk! Our room was directly next to the stairs and opposite the front door. We never heard any of the other guest come in. (I actually dont know how many rooms the small hotel has) Door handle was loose and you could not lock the outside door, however the bathroom and bedroom could be locked. Breakfast is TOP! Way too much but, he your are on a break ;) Lovely owner and staff, came to check on us every now and then during breakfast, we sat in our own private breakfast room. Will definitely go there again, loved the place!
