    Perfect stay

    Wonderful dog friendly hotel located a couple of minutes walking distance from the beach. Very nice rooms in cottages (duinkamer) beautifully decorated. Very clean and nice indoor pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi.

    Comfortable hotel near the beach; friendly to dogs and their owners.

    Our apartment was large with a nice bed, a spacious sitting area, lots of closet space and a large bathroom. The room overlooks the beautiful courtyard garden. Breakfast has a large assortment including good coffee and delicious bread varieties. We did not use the indoor swimming pool. Parking is available on the hotel grounds (2,50 p/d) The staff is friendly and professional. In less than 10 minutes walk you are on the beach where two nice beach bars are located. From there you can make lovely beach walks along the coast of Schouwen-Duiveland, also up to the Brouwersdam.

    Old and uninspired

    Plus : - Staff in the restaurant and reception were friendly and helpful. Also some of the bar staff were friendly and quick to serve. - Beautiful paintings throughout the hotel - Live cooking at the buffet was fresh and tasty. Great shrimp skewer! Minus: - Rooms are very old and smell like they have been smoked in for a long period of time. - Rooms are very noisy. We could hear the conversation of the neighbors word for word. - Bathrooms have broken faucets and a blow dryer model "2000" (produced sometimes in the 1990s). There was fungus in the bathroom. It's all just very old and needs replacement. - Sauna area is small (fits 6-8 people) and smells like fungus. The water of the pool was dirty. - Staff at the bar were bickering in front of us. - Both Friday and Saturday evening dinner was a buffet (almost same choice on both nights). Overall really not a 4 star hotel standard. We would not come here again.

    Still solid, but aging

    The good side: as welcoming staff, good food and brilliant location as last time we stayed there, some 20 years back. The bad side: the market has moved on, and would not tolerate (for this price level) a small and not-well-maintained inside pool like theirs anymore. Or a jacuzzi simply out of service in peak season. Or relatively smallish and basic rooms with 20+ years old bathrooms. So if you get it for the proper price (more 3 than 4 star), and love the perfect location - go for it!

    Danger in covid times

    This Hotel has one considerable danger in the handling of covid. When you check in your are allocated a breakfast time and also handed a plastic card that you need to hand in again when going to breakfast. The plastic card is sanitised at check-in. The problem comes when you go to breakfast. You hand the card to the person at the entrance of the Breakfast hall. They then take the card before they had you a tray and tongs. They don't sanitize their hands between taking the card and handing you a tray. The next customer then hands in their card and get a tray and tongs. The person at the entrance has not clean or sanitized their hands between customers when it is busy. If someone is infected with Covit and hands in a card, this will soon become a hotspot for spreading Covit. I did try and explain to reception the problem and was told it the card system is the only way they can make the breakfast work. So be aware at breakfast and ask the person at the entrance to please sanitise there hands before you take your tray and tongs.
