  Excellent Experience

  This is a wonderful place to stay. Pure peaceful luxury... Lovely clean large rooms and bathrooms. The grounds and pool are well kept, great facilities. Swellendam itself is an historic town which is really safe and close to explore on foot with shops, museums and afternoon tea overlooking the River. The Lodge and has retained its history and is beautifully decorated with the owners collection of art from around the world. There is a comfortable bar area where you can meet the other guests if you wish. A vast selection of gins and wine are available. The restaurant is beautiful and the tables well placed for privacy. The food is all from local produce and is amazing, some of the best we had on our trip The staff are really helpful and friendly especially Nanette. Thank you all so much for making our visit so memorable... We will definitely be back!

  The whole stay at De Kloof was a dream.

  The beautiful luxury suite was full of comfort with a large bathroom and a walk-in shower plus a bathtub. The spa amazing with its many exciting offers and a spa-treatment to dream of. To top it all was the amazing restaurant and the delicious food. I warmly recommend a stay in the lap of luxury and next to a lovely nature reserve.

  Great Hotel and great people

  Lovely hotel. Room & bathroom were huge and impeccably clean. Meals were fab and reasonably priced. Staff were welcoming, friendly and service was excellent. Great location for day trips to national parks, etc. Thank you all at the De Kloof for a great stay and thank you to Stafford at DialaFlight for recommending and arranging.

  Tofotal tranquility

  Situated close to the centre of Swellendam this hotel is a delightful quiet retreat where one can totally relax. The room we had, Merlot, was particularly comfortable with excellent facilities. In the main building there is a spacious lounge in which to enjoy a pre-dinner drink or a post-dinner digestive. The restaurant has tables set reasonably apart and the serice and food of a very high stanard. The staff are welcoming and eager to help with arranging tables at nearby restaurants, of which there are a good number, and also trips to surrounding attractions.

  Overcharging, rude and unrepentant

  A group of 11 friends booked the entire guest house. Unfortunately our holiday was marred by a rude and offensive manageress/owner. Our drinks bill had inconsistent pricing and overcharging that borders on theft. Water on the bill totaled R2000 and the wine selection offered to us were only the most expensive wines on their list. The manageress was rude when we questioned the different prices of the same items. She then blamed it on a recent power failure that affected their till system and agreed to resolve it in the morning. Needless to say, our complaint remains unresolved to date. I can confirm that the food and rooms are excellent, but advise you to be cautious when dealing with this establishment. They want your money and preferably more then they are entitled to.
