  Friendly and welcoming

  We had two nice ground floor twin rooms which were comfortable with very good showers. As the windows were open on a hot night there was some noise from outside but not too disturbing and breakfast was very good.

  Weekend visit Schaffer Diest

  Excellent friendly service, very clean modern room and very nice breakfast. Central position 100mts from the main square. Friendly medieval town with good reteraunts. The Citadel built in 1835'ish is a great attraction.

  Bad experience

  The 3 stars hotel it's located in the center of Diest city and has a good location considering the fact that the restaurants are close. The personnel was nice but the rooms are very small with no air conditioning inside. In the bathroom was even hotter, the sandstone was very hot.

  Maybe better with another room

  The rooms are enough and the toilet seems recently renovated, but had no AC. Anyway, I was really unlucky with the given room as the window was to the indoor hallway and was very hot and quite noisy. This particularity made the stay quite negative. If you have a better room maybe the overall experience would be ok. The location is good, the breakfast also and the staff really helpful.

  Bug Bites

  When I booked the hotel I thought for the price it would be as good as my previous nights stay in Bruges at the Martens Relais. Oh how wrong was I! Once I eventually found the place and entered the reception my heart sank a little. Once I found my room (scrambling around in the dark on the 2nd floor)! as there were no apparent light switches/movement sensors but little orange buttons by the door of each room which when pushed lit the immediate proximity. I found this out by shear chance rather than the gentleman on reception informing me. Not a brilliant start. Once I got to my room and entered my heart sank to it's lowest depth. Basic doesn't really come close (and I paid 80.00 for 1 nights stay without breakfast! Only 1 light worked, the ceiling fan didn't! the bed hadn't had clean linen put on it (eeuw) and to top it all off there was a window directly above the bed which was operated by a manual crank system. The saving grace of the room was the bathroom and if the bath had been big enough I may have slept in it. Instead after travelling from Bruges by train and then walking to the accommodation I just wanted to eat and sleep. I made the brave decision to sleep on top of the bed rather than under someone else's left behind DNA! Only to be realise that I had been accosted by bugs during the brief 3 hours of sleep I got. Breakfast didn't meet expectations either, nothing or no-one to ask or request options. It's been a week since my stay, I have been back to Belgium and stayed in much better hotel accommodation (which I will review next) for the same price. Maybe I had a 1 in a million experience, I don't know. What I do know is I won't be returning or recommending it to anyone.
