Cute and ComfortableA pretty cool place! There were a variety of different rooms to choose from; we asked for the cheapest which was small, contained a private bathroom and a 'kang' (a traditional northern Chinese bed). The 'kang' was basically two thin mattresses pushed together on top of a raised platform - I know that doesn't sound great, but I'm not lying when I say it was one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. It was awesome! The mattresses and bedding were top notch quality and it was like drowning in warmth and cosiness. Slept like a baby on all three nights. Would highly recommend if you want to save a few dollars! Room also comes with a plasma TV (but no HBO sadly), a kettle, free tea and a couple of mugs. Bathroom was very clean and functional with shampoo, body wash, toothpaste etc. provided and replenished everyday. You get a 'Welcome' fruit basket upon arriving. Location is very convenient, only a five minute walk to the park entrance. While the rooms were good, the hotel itself is not very foreigner friendly. Staff do not speak English and the restaurant is Chinese style only. No Western food is available in or around the hotel - I strongly advise bringing provisions (granola bars, etc.). Breakfast is free of charge - eggs, toast, steamed buns were all okay, but I wasn't able to stomach a lot of the other food that was offered. A few other cons: ***Internet cable in room didn't work - there is a business centre, but you have to pay 5rmb each time to use it ***Hotel advertises a gym and sauna but these were not available for use when we were there ***It's difficult to get to the North Gate from the West Gate. There is only one bus that leaves from the West Gate at 10.40 and returns at 3.30. As it is a two hour journey, it leaves hardly any time to explore at all. We ended up getting a taxi there so we could arrive earlier which cost 200rmb. ***Even though I loved our room, I still thought it was a bit too expensive as it was quite basic I would recommend this hotel, but only to those who are confident with their Chinese speaking ability as there is not much help for foreigners.

Family HolidayWe stayed for 3 nights as a family of 4 (including two young boys - 4&6). Could not get interconnecting rooms, but did get free upgrade. Toilets did not work very well in either room & were a bit smelly! Staff were excellent finding english speakers to help when needed. Food is excellent, but a bit pricy (200 to 400 RMB for 4). Location is superb, in the forest at the West Gate with very clean air - do not stay here for North Gate as 2hr taxi away quited at 600 RMB! Rooms are quiet & beds v comfortable, so great for a good sleep.
