Very DissapointingWhere do I start!!!!! Arrived at accommodation at 4.00pm, previously advised we would arrive 2.45pm. Shock horror room as not ready, after a few trips to the reception desk we finally got a room at 6.30. Their answer was to give free drink vouchers, not good enough. The lack of staffing in all areas was very noticeable right from start of our 6 day stay. Housekeeping was practically none existent and at one point our room door was left ajar by the cleaners. Buffet Breakfast was ok but the waiting to get a cleared table very frustrating and at one point we were put on a waiting list for a table and some staff were abrupt with no compassion for the paying customer. This was a return trip after paying for a day trip to the island prior to their reopening after cyclone Debbie. Such a disappointing return and we will not recommend to family and friends due to visit the Whitsundays in September.

Don't believe all of the negativity - make your own mind up!We visited Daydream Island for five days in March 2021. I will summarise the key areas of the resort: Arrival and Check-in We arrived on the island around 4:00pm due to flight delays but were checked-in swiftly by Jack who was very informative and helpful with any questions we had. Room One of the most important things for us is cleanliness. Thankfully we didn't witness any of the examples provided by others. The room was clean any tidy with everything we could want. For anyone that likes a chilled out couple of hours there are an enormous amount of movies on the TV. I would agree that housekeeping is not great and they come round late afternoon, which is when most people are back in their rooms. We never need someone to come and make our bed so we left our 'do not disturb' sign on the door. Whenever we saw housekeeping we would grab a few more shampoos etc. which they were happy to give. Pools and Grounds There are pools on the north and south of the island. We stayed in the north as they had lots to offer, you never felt like it was busy and we always got a sun lounger. It was so hot when we were there we did find that if you weren't by the pool early shade was at a premium. The north pools have the swim up bar too which is a bit of a novelty by again a decent addition. The south part of the island, as highlighted by people is not the most picturesque but you can understand why they haven't reopened the bakery etc. clearly it just wouldn't be financially viable. There is the outdoor cinema which is awesome with loads of sun loungers. There is also somewhere to buy popcorn, lollies and drinks. Lover's cove is also nice. Again, people moaned there wasn't much there but it really is only a place to visit for an hour max. Grab a beer and just sit on a chair and watch the sun go down. We did fish feeding with Hannah, she was great and very informative. The reef is awesome with loads of different fish which you can interact with. As previously mentioned, there are kangaroos roaming around the island and there is a fair bit of poo (mainly on the grass areas) but it really isn't as bad as some people make out. Some of the corridors to rooms are open to the elements so you will see leaves etc. on the floor so again, any pictures people post of a slightly dirty hallway can be taken with a pinch of salt. Dining The food was really good and we ate at all of the various places. As people have mentioned, it isn't the cheapest but it's not excessive and affordable. I would agree with others about the lunch options not being overly great. Sometimes you just want a sandwich or something small but the cheapest things are probably the burgers. The biggest thing to note that every restaurant was understaffed by at least 2-3 people. The staff that are working were fantastic but clearly under so much pressure. We witnessed a couple of times that our order was not completely accurate but when it was raised it was rectified straight away. The owners need to take note, look after your staff and help them out a bit, i get the impression that staff will just quit if things stay the same. The breakfast was pretty standard for a buffet at a hotel. Due to Covid it isn't self service but you line up and get served by staff there. This may not be a bad thing with so many people grabbing food like its about to run out! Take the 1 star reviews and the media reports with a pinch of salt. Clearly people on TripAdvisor will score the lowest possible rating even if there were good aspects to their stay and there obviously isn't a story in the media unless they can focus on any small issue. I think ultimately the buck stops with the owners, hire more staff to help the ones you have and this can be a really great resort. I think the average of 3.5 is probably accurate given everything i have witnessed.
