    Beware property is for sale

Owner has had the property for sale for a long time. Poorly maintained rooms, WiFi didnt work. Shower didnt work. Staff terrible. Daughter cut here leg on a protruding bed frame. Stay at your own risk.

    Read All for current info.

We have stayed a Daven Haven in 2015 and I dont recall any real issues with the cabins, service or anything. This year we were excited to check out Grand Lake and booked with Daven Haven again. Even though all dog-friendly cabins were booked we decided to leave the pup at home. Once reservations were made online, we received two emails confirming invoice that made the statement Check-in is not guaranteed until 4 pm Check-out is at 11 am and took that as you need to get there after 4 pm. Being in the mountains I did not receive their voicemail that their office closed at 3:30 pm and they were wondering where we were. I was confused and concerned that we wouldnt be able to check in since the office was closed which did worry me. Once we arrived the keys were made available to us even though the office was closed. I would suggest in the future that Daven Haven also send a more specific email about check in so as not to cause confusion and be more clear of the process. We realize in recent months that processes have changed, but would appreciate clarification. The first evening we were beat from the drive/hiking and all we wanted to do was relax and get to sleep. The bed in our cabin was terrible. It had a large dip in the middle of the bed and caused much discomfort. The next evening I chose to sleep on the single pull out bed and it wasnt much better. I do believe that the number one expectation of a hotel/motel is to provide a positive sleeping experience. This was not achieved. The wi-fi is weak and cable TV is minimal. I am not there to use the wi-fi but this is just one more thing that was noticed in my cranky state of not sleeping. Keep in mind this property and business is for sale and I am sure due to existing issues, that most businesses are short handed and suffering from powering down. I dont feel that is any excuse at this point in time for having the poorest beds I have ever slept on. We did meet one of the owners, Greg, who was very friendly and hardworking. I didnt feel that he was the one to discuss our issues with, since he was working at the time in the bar. I did make attempts to speak to someone in the front office but they were either busy with other duties or the office was closed. I was unclear of their office hours since they are not posted on the front door of their main lodge. In light of that I chose to post my review in spite of my personal rule to do a face-to-face first. The positives: The grounds are lovely and the area is perfect for entering RMNP. It is a very short walk to downtown and to the lake. It is quiet and our cabin was shaded and doesn't get hot. The kitchen was very usable and the grounds are literally right on the Continental Divide Trail. We also saw over 15 moose in RMNP and that is awesome. I can honestly say I would have awarded a five star rating if we would have had a comfortable sleep. Sleep is important.

adequate but would not stay again

We stayed at the Wildwood cabins owned by the Daven Haven Lodge. The location was good at the end of Grand Street and we were able to walk to town quite easily. During the week it was not too loud. The kitchen and bathroom was well stocked with dishes and linens. Person at the front desk was very courteous at check-in. No one was there at check-out yet to let them know about broken items. Based on how difficult it was to get a hold of anyone by phone (or return emails or voicemails), I am not sure I could get a hold of someone to give them feedback. The cabin was fine in size but quite dated, with several damaged/half broken items throughout (toilet handle kept falling off, holes in doors, carpet ripped, drawers that stuck). The second bedroom floor notably slopes down towards the corner of the room. The furniture is therefore uneven as well which looks odd. Mattresses are not great but not uncomfortable. Picnic table out front was nice. Overall for the price would not stay again.

Just like my mother in law..

My wife and I just got back from two days at Daven Haven cabins, and took my mother in law + family for a quick 2 day get away. The cabins were a bit old, but nice, clean, and friendly...just like my mother in law. The bed was fine, the MWO , Fridge, & Coffee Maker worked well. Nice and cool, even on a hot day. Just don't come to watch TV. And too bad the restaurant was closed. I would definitely stay here again. Good location. And the propane grill was nice, given the fire ban,

    Beautiful Pet Friendly Cabins

Pet Friendly, gorgeous cabins! Last weekend I flew from Bloomington, IN to Grand Lake, CO and stayed here at Daven Haven Lodge with my travel buddy Natalie (a longhaired standard dachshund) in tow. It was an adventure of a lifetime! Our cabin was very clean, and decorative with great taste! Very comfy bed too (those are hard to come by) The owners Greg & Carie were wonderful and ensured I had a great stay and everything I needed. I stayed in cabin #38 It was adorable I would stay in this exact cabin again for sure! It was just perfect for my little dog and I, it also had a fully equipped kitchen! Wifi was also available. Best things of all about Daven Haven is the restaurant (steakhouse) and the close distance to town. I didnt have a rental car and walked everywhere. Dinner on Saturday night was Ah-Mazing! The French onion soup was to die for. Im a big French onion soup fan and it sure hit the spot. My entree was bowtie macaroni and cheese. Very very large portions I could barely finish it all! Overall Grand Lake was a wonderful trip, and it all started by having a beautiful, clean & pet friendly cabin to stay in. We will be back! Selena & Natalie
