Outstanding!!!It's really hard to top this one! From the great location above Achenkirch and the Achensee, the chalet suite that our whole family really loved to the great food and staff that just makes you feel at home! Having a Porsche Boxster Spyder (S with chrono paket!) to be available to rent on an hourly basis, the streets around that every car Enthusiast will go crazy about, is just another great plus to stay there!!!

Flashback of Shangri-La 2018We stayed at this hotel towards the end of the skiing season last year. I thought I would wait a while before writing in case I was over-enthusiastic and too effusive about the place. Over a year has passed and the impression is just the same if not more. It is very hard to describe because I am talking about the energy of the place. I believe the owners cultivate this healing energy in the Hotel by employing only people who are pure inside and know what it is to make their guests welcome and enjoy their holiday. Then the material part is provided to facilitate the goodness of the hotel - good views, above the town, spa, shop, lounge with log fires, dining in the open air, etc. It is a ski-in and ski-out hotel adding to the convenience. This is very hard to put down in writing as it does not fully describe what I witnessed. I met two people who were quite ill but by the fourth day, both were almost well. I am talking of illness which if taking a downward spiral, can indeed kill. These two people were well. I have hung on for a year to write this. The lady said hers was very bad but after 4 days in the hotel it was 5% and she is a regular. The other man had had his problems for 3 months and nothing helped but whatever he had, just disappeared within days in the hotel. I think the fresh air also had to do with it. That is why I plead with the accountants in the Hotel not to cut anything back and not tell the owners that customers will not notice. The owners know that they need all the natural food for breakfast, lunch and dinner to bring about good in this world, whether in inspiration or in healing. I cant praise enough the staff from the man who tends the fireplaces, the bicycle repairer, the breakfast lady, the maitre dmaison, to the reception staff, shop assistants, the cleaning staff etc that they are contributing to this positive energy that surrounds the place. Lastly, thank you Erich the ski instructor who allows your own style and corrects you for the better. Erich is a wonderful man. There is a team in the ski school and there are experts there for racing and skiing with speed. However, there is a lady instructor who is a legend in the town outside of the hotel, probably called Mariana. The Hotel according to their in-house magazine is frequented by 60% Germans. The British should consider this as it would suit them very well though the ski slopes are for practice and perfecting the skiing rather than covering vast areas in big resorts. I would recommend this hotel any day. This place is magic. I visited in April,2018 (est).

Very Nice!My wife and I stayed here very recently and found this hotel to be very nice indeed. The region is one of the most breathtaking scenic spots anywhere in the world. The drive up to the hotel gives you a great sense of anticipation and first impressions do not disappoint. Check-in at reception was excellent, friendly, quick and informative. We declined the show round but it's a nice touch for people who want it. We then had a drink in the bar which was very good. The decor here is a bit of a mish mash and obviously it has become quite dated, but it is also a personal like or dislike thing. For us it was a dislike. Then we went to our room and even though we were in the lowest room category, they were spacious, bright and quiet. Having stayed in countless hotels around the world there has to be a special mention for the shower - AMAZING! The Spa is simply stunning and has to be one of the best indoor/outdoor pools we have ever seen - only downside is there is a shortage of loungers. In high season this must be a challenge. Now the restaurant. The food is fantastic. The service though is a bit strange as it doesn't correlate with the rest of the hotel. Everything to this point was relaxing but I found the restaurant service quite intrusive. I don't understand why an order for your whole meal isn't taken at the beginning. It's asked between every course. Why? The waiter just keeps interrupting conversation. It's very odd. The breakfast buffet is excellent, although a little over complicated. The juice selection is wonderful, I had an apple and pear juice but the guest before me had carrot juice so therefore my juice ended up with remnants of carrot. No one on hand to keep this area clean. There should be simple juices for people who want to avoid this. The hotel has its own personal chapel which is stunning and a roof top bar which we will go to properly next time. During our trip unfortunately both us became sick (nothing because of hotel - just bad timing!). The staff were so helpful for both of us and we were very grateful for the help and support they gave us. Would have been a five if not for the weird manner in how dinner service is done. A great hotel we will be back.

Kron stands for Crown....Almost everything perfect! ( read the english reviews on tripadvisor and they are all true) so what to add? .... Please specify on reservation your bed type unless you want a twin bedded double room which for one night might be Ok as a couple but not for one week...My mistake we didn't ask nor were we asked.... Secondly we want to add that the food offerings always gives one the option of a healthy option or vegetarian and dito for the wine pairings with nice good quality juices. This is rather rare. What we also like was the ski rental services and possibility to ski in and out.. ( even when snow levels are limited) Overall service is genuine and well managed! Krontaler staff deserves the crown!

DisappointingWe stayed here in August for four nights and I have left writing a review to see if my opinion softens over time. So far, it hasn't. Our disappointment comes from having booked a chalet (the only availability they had) but we were given a room which didn't have the two bedrooms (fortunately we don't need two bedrooms) nor did it have the "Panoramic view to the surrounding mountains and lake Achensee". This really upset me as we were hoping to spend most of our time relaxing on the balcony, but the room we got was north facing and we saw mainly the rest of the hotel and carpark. When we mentioned this to the reception, they didn't really seem to bother about it and just said it was a different type of chalet. Which is not described on their website! Again they didn't seem to care about that, and their website has still not been updated to reflect the different types of chalets they have. We arrived around 1pm and were offered a welcome drink. When we were ready for lunch, we were told to go to the buffet. What we were not told was that the buffet closes at 2pm - sharp! We said that no one mentioned this to us, and they said don't worry, the chef could make us something. Great we thought! Until we sat down for dinner and were presented with a bill for lunch! We did get this taken off our overall bill once we complained. We had hoped to rent e-bikes at the hotel. Unfortunately they were all booked out for the duration of our stay. If you do want to hire bikes, I would suggest arranging that along with any spa treatments before your stay. We had a couple of very good massages. But we only used the pool once. It was quite chilly and it isn't the biggest pool. It was quite crowded around the pool, so we preferred to be on our balcony or elsewhere in the hotel grounds. The food was very good at the hotel. There are lots of options, even at dinner. The bars were also good, and I imagine in non-covid times have great atmosphere. The area surrounding the hotel is great for cycling and walking. It is a stunning area. It was a nice enough stay, and a good hotel - but for us the room type and charging us for lunch on our first day - & their lack of apology - set a bad tone and we won't be returning.
