Great place to stayA beautiful hotel with stunning views. The rooms are clean and nicely decorated in an Amazigh style. The staff is very kind and very helpful. They know the true meaning of service. From the rooftop terrace you have a stunning view of the river and the mountains, and it also includes a glass room where you can enjoy the views sheltered from the elements. The food was also very good and reasonably priced. We really enjoyed the breakfast with warm bread, Moroccan tea and Moroccan pancakes. Highly recommended. I am looking forward to our next visit.

Winter breakJust back from Dar Ikalimo Ourika. Had a fantastic time. We just stayed at the hotel and enjoyed the facilities and the wonderful, friendly service, food etc. The rooms are great and the beds, despite being firm, are very comfortable. We were able to get up when we wanted and, within reason, could have breakfast when it suited us. Same with lunch and dinner. The main reason staying at Dar Ikalimo Ourika is so good is the staff. Karim - who appears to work 25 hours a day! - and his colleagues make such an effort to make you feel like guests in their home rather than paying travellers. Nothing is ever too much trouble. Food? Excellent. Varied but with a consistent Moroccan theme. A surprise every day. One starter blew our minds: white cabbage, lemon and yoghurt (made with a hefty dose of sugar). Repeat: a starter. Fabulous. Great views to the foothills of the Atlas Mountains. We had sun without a break for six days; only on the morning we were leaving did it cloud over. One day it reached 30deg. We booked a transfer in advance. Around £40 return from the airport. A word on access. The hotel is on the side of a hill. I believe there is a road to the rear of the building but to reach the road takes you quite a long way past the Dar Ikalimo. From what I could see and from what I understand it might not be suitable for ordinary cars. So when we arrived we were dropped off at a car park next to the main road. Karim and a colleague came down and took our cases up the side of the hill for us. To get to the hotel you walk over a wooden bridge and via slopes and steps; takes about five minutes. But don't let that put you off; it's not as difficult as it sounds. However, you need to be able bodied. If you have a mobility problem it would be worth contacting the hotel first to discuss your needs. We are considering going back later this year or early next, that's how much we enjoyed our stay.
