  Beautiful view, Centrally Located

  Dar Ayour is located inside the medina of Essaouira, allowing easy access to the beach and the markets. Hotel room was beautiful, with lots of details and color. Large windows open to give an amazing view of the ocean directly below. There was a slight smell from one of the bathroom drains but this was easily fixed by covered the drain.

  Amazing hidden Gem

  We stayed nearly a week in the top room with the balcony, (the photos do not do this justice), it was absolutely amazing sitting there each evening and/or afternoon, watching the birds, ocean, and sun go down. It is true that there are many stairs to climb but not impossible,(unless you have mobility issues, (we are 60 and did it easily). They help you with the luggage both up and down. Previous people have said you can smell smoke from downstairs, we smelt non and think it would only be possibly on the floor directly above the cafe. Also, we saw all the rooms and the room that is mentioned in a previous review saying it has no windows, does in fact but there is no view - they face the city wall, this is the room directly above the cafe. This was one of the best accommodation I have stayed at and I have travelled the world, the only down side was that there was a smell from the drains in the bathrooms.

  Unparalleled view and welcoming hospitality

  We stayed in the top suite and walking up those stairs several times a day carrying a toddler was still worth it - the view is amazing! The tide is very dramatic and offers a variety of scenes that play out 5 stories below you: fishermen diving and dragging bags and bags of stuff out of the sea, waves crashing or lapping at the rocks below, couples exploring the exposed rocks at low tide and many seagulls flying at the same level as your windows. The owners are very friendly and accommodating, the breakfast was great and even included omelettes and strong cappuccinos, the accommodations were very spacious (except for the bathroom but that is minor) and we loved having a little burner stove to boil water for tea, eggs or a quick soup when a few of us were not feeling well. We parked our rental car behind the bigger parking lot, a smaller privately owned venture. It was 100 MAD for 2 days and gave us in and out privileges. The gentleman that assisted with carting our bags from there to the hotel wasn't such a good deal but he took as around the block to make the way seem longer (not accommodation affiliated but may be helpful all the same).

  Amazing

  Just an amazing view. Worth every penny and every step. We stayed, over new year, in the third floor apartment. The firth floor one us smaller but has a balcony. The third floor one is bigger, has two big windows which open and almost makes a balcony. There us a small kitchen area and a movable gas heater. The views are amazing, just like the pictures. It is 66 steps up to the third floor, and you can smell smoke (from the bar) on the stairs, but not in the apartments. Good breakfast, lovely owners and, for what you get, really quite cheap. I've been to over 100 countries, this is one of the best views I've ever had. Stay here, you will not regret it.

  An amazing sea view

  I loved the place for its amazing sea view. My apartment was on the 4th floor, with a large terrace overlooking the sea. It was worth going up the narrow staircase which could be better lighted at night. The staff was welcoming. The breakfast was simple but of good quality. The apartment was spacious and the bed very confortable. I don't recommend the first floor apartment which is a duplex but is quite dark and above the cafe. They don't clean the apartment on a daily basis. Excellent value for the rate and perfectly located.
