  Quiet Night Away

  We booked an overnight stay with dinner included. The lady on reception (Shannon) who seemed to be everywhere, serving behind the bar, helping out in the restaurant was brilliant from when we checked in until we left. She was very helpful arranging lunch, dinner bookings etc. The rooms were clean and tidy albeit slightly dated. The food was very good as were the staff (Rachel) our waitress was also excellent We will definitely return Kevin & Elaine

  This Hotel is average at best. The staff were excellent and couldn't be more helpful. Good cosy bar with log fire. Bar prices average.The breakfast was a buffet type with a choice to suit everyone. The room was an old fashioned type that could have been cleaned to a higher standard. The radiator was out of service and an electric fan heater was the only heating in the room. The bed was very comfortable and clean. The on suite toilet was a shower cubicle with an electric shower and plenty of hot water. Good T.V. on the wall and good reception. Overall only average but okay for one night.

  As a family of 4 plus a small dog, when we arrived there was no record of needing a family room, which in fairness to the hotel could have been Booking.coms error. They agreed to give us 2 double rooms for the same price at short notice thank goodness. One room was very basic and felt old and tired. The other was fabulous and plush, be it the slightly bizarre bath with flashing lights didnt work (tap didnt run). Breakfast relied on grabbing cutlery off other peoples tables to get what you needed and one of the days there was barely any hot food just because the chef had not turned up or gone away. Appeared to be run by a skeleton staff, but they were very friendly none the less. Quirky but cheap. Nice countryside for a run behind the hotel passed the old mill.

  Lunch menu not as advertised

  Had lunch with my friend today at Dalgarven House Hotel. Had looked online and thought menus had a good choice and good prices, but when got there the menu was different. The menu was limited no bar snacks or sides etc. Online they advertise express lunch and early bird menus 7.95 for one course and 9.95 for 2 course 11.95 for 3 course but we only got a choice of £12 for 2 course and the menu was very limited. I asked if different menu to be told no. The lunch was ok but feel if they are not offering what they state online they should change website as I probably wouldnt have gone. Also sat in bar and left stinking of smoke as open fire was smoking out it was not pleasant. I would recommend eating in restaurant if you dont want to smell of smoke! Quite disappointed actually. Had to shower when got home to get rid of smell.

  Hi. Tried to book thus place for several days as I had a wowcher (gift) but was unable to get in touch with anyone from hotel. Turns out it has closed/shut down. But be careful as it appears it is still taking bookings online via their website.....
