    Beautiful location

We have just returned from this hotel. We had booked a room over looking the Lake, at a premium, This was worth it so beautiful and peaceful. However the hotel wasn't without fault. Generally clean, despite a cob web in the bathroom. The disappointment was lack of a decent shower, Wi-Fi iffy and no restaurant for breakfast. Breakfast could be brought your room , nice touch, though the choice was exceedingly limited. They could offer much better, as they were cooking bacon and sausages for a sandwich of your choice with crossaint arc. Bizaarly a hard boiled egg too. Didn't float my boat. Just a note to add as we all have to eat. You need to book restaurants in advance for dinner. A lot of the hotels were serving residents only. So don't get caught out as you will struggle to find. Regarding price I am unsure as my husband booked for my birthday treat. I surmised it was too expensive for what was on offer. Strange times at the moment for all.

    Great location and fabulous room

We had a great overnight package at the Dale Head which is located on the banks of Thirlmere with one of the best aspects of any of the Lakes that we have experienced from a hotel. The room was spacious and the beds were very comfortable. There are some unusual touches, understandable in Covid 19 times, but the hosts were welcoming and tried very hard to make our stay enjoyable. They succeeded. The restaurant is currently closed but the Kings Head is a short walk away and serves lovely food in pleasant surroundings. The walk through the woods, along the shoreline is wonderful before returning to the hotel and its well tended grounds and a log fire which was burning in the lounge every time we passed by. Such a privilege to stay in such a great location for a fraction of the price of the Lodore Falls hotel and the experience for us was far superior too

    Cumbria stay 26/09 -3/10

Stayed at Dale Head Hall in the coach house, lovely central location for exploring the lakes, how ever our stay at Dale Head was a little disappointing, no restraint in,place due to COVID, We stayed in the Coach house which is need of a total renovation the bath room has mould and totally out of date, bedroom main light not working, oven rusty and oven seal gone, microwave in need of replacing , in general the coach house needs a good renovation, plus the tenant in the 1st cottage does not give a good impression and is rather mouthy with no regard to guest sadly. However its has lashings of hot water and is warm.

The Coach House in the grounds

The Coach House is adjacent to the Dale Hall Hotel which is situated on the banks of Lake Thirlmere. We chose the Coach House as dog friendly and as such was ideal for our needs but it is in need of some TLC. However it was generally clean and tidy but there were some large cobwebs visible in the bedroom. The sofa and chair in the sitting room were new and very comfortable. The kitchen was also ok, but the cooker looked like it had been "well used". The carpets were clean but pulled in places by the previous canine residents. The bathroom was quite old but the shower very powerful with plenty of hot water. The heating was very effective so if you are there in the winter you will nice and warm. The staff I met in the hotel were friendly. Despite being very COVID aware, they said we were welcome to use the hotel bar with the other hotel residents. There is a pub at the end of the long drive which serves food all day so is an option if you don't want to cook. Keswick is about 10-15 mins drive away.

    Lucky Escape

We have not stayed here and never will, the attitude of the member of staff (or the owner) we spoke to was totally couldnt care less, abrupt and downright rude. If they treat customers the way they treated us, in my eyes we had a lucky escape. Our 2 daughters bought a 2 night stay for myself and my husband as a birthday gift. We were originally booked in for November 2020 but then lockdown was announced ..we were contacted and with an abrupt, begrudging attitude, allowed to change the booking to the beginning of December 2020 to when the lockdown was due to end. We thought booking it so close after lockdown ended would be ok because we live in a very quiet area and cases were very low, we were in tier 1 before, we thought cases could only be lower still after 4 weeks of lockdown and we would go back into tier 1, unfortunately we then went into tier 3 with almost the rest of the country and because we were in tier 3, government guidelines stated we were not allowed to travel outside our area. My daughter tried to ring the hotel from the 1/12/20 and couldnt get through until the 4/12 when we were supposedly arriving, the member of staff who answered the phone to my daughter was very abrupt and rude, she refused to change the booking to when we were allowed to travel and then put the phone down on her! I appreciate there are terms and conditions for bookings but in this awful unprecedented time many other businesses are making exceptions and allowing customers to rebook when they are able to travel but this member of staff refused and wouldnt let her rebook so my daughters lost their money. I emailed them and tried to appeal to their better nature .. but as I received no reply... I assume they dont have one.
