  Natural and peaceful environment

  My family and I spent two nights in this lovely inn nestled in a little village in Dala-Floda. We stayed in an early 19th century house which has two double rooms and a small single room. Since there were three of us, we chose the double room with a view of the lake and the single room. We were fortunate to be given the use of the whole house, so it felt like staying in one's own summer house. Staying in Dala-Floda Vardshus was the highlight of our holiday in Scandinavia. The inn has a beautiful garden where one can sit down for a cup of coffee while enjoying the flowers in summer. There is a peaceful lake nearby where swimming is possible. We enjoyed the organic breakfast and the delicious dinners prepared by Per. Evalotta, his wife, went out of her way to pick us up from the bus stop, gave us rides to and from the local yarn spinning factory, and sent us to Borlange station after checking out. If you do not have a car like us, you can take the train Stockholm-Borlange and change to Bus 121 and get off at Dala-Floda ICA. Thank you Per and Evalotta for making our stay at your inn such a memorable one. Thank you for making available this beautiful niche in Sweden for us to enjoy.

  Top class home cooking

  The restaurant is situated in a charming old country home located in a beautiful and very picturesque village in Dalarna. The food is exquisite; locally produced and fully organic. Preparation is top class. During the summer months you can also eat in the garden.

  Perfect couple of days on our honeymoon

  Much of our whirlwind Scandinavian honeymoon was spent in the larger cities: Copenhagen, Oslo, Bergen. But we wanted to get into the countryside a bit, and my wife has had a life-long affinity for the work of Carl Larsson whose home is about 60 minutes from Dala-Floda. So the Vardshus made a wonderful couple of nights for us. It's a rustic, small resort, set a few feet from a scenic lake. The property is immaculate. The attention to detail is a delight--little touches everywhere. And the hosts are nicest people you'll come across. My wife and I were awed by the incredible amount of work that clearly goes into making each day's breakfast and dinner, while maintaining the beautiful rooms and garden. Our stay here was pure joy. My only--very minor--quibble was that the wifi didn't work much in our room. And I'm kind of embarrassed to mention it since it did work in the main house, and, really, in a setting like this, why waste time on the Internet?

  Breakfast brings it down

  Beautiful area Charming rooms The beds were as comfy as they get But breakfast left a real lot to be desired Selection was meager to say the least Was a dark and dreary feeling that just didnt fit with the rest of the place
