    An enjoyable stay

Modern and clean hotel. Double room is considered spacious for 2 people. Family mart opposite the hotel and 7-11 just 5 minutes walk away. Breakfast comprises Japanese (rice, soba, natto, fish, miso soup) and Western (salad, toast, ham, fruits). Simple but adequate. Hotel provides free 2-way tram tickets for guests to Toyama station. W didnt use the tickets so no idea whats at Toyama station.

    Booked too early!

Unfortunately we booked well in advance so were unable to reserve a room at the new Daiwa Roynet opposite the sation, which opened in April 2019. This hotel is a 1000yen taxi ride from the station, so is not too convenient. However, it has many redeeming features. Reception staff were very good and the room and bathroom were quite spacious. Very good desk with mirror, TV, and fridge. Good aircon and WIFI, with no need for passwords. Beds were very comfortable, but could have done with two pillows. Good hanging space in open closet. The room card is also needed to operate the lift. If you don't realise this you can stand for ages waiting for the lift to start! Ice machine and combined wash/drier laundry machines on 4th floor. Breakfast is served on the ground floor, which also operates as an Italian restaurant in the evenings. Does not cater for Western tastes. Not a bad breakfast for Japanese, but apart from sliced bread and a toaster, and very runny scrambled egg, there was not much choice. Only milk, water and tomatoe juice available and no pepper to put on the eggs. At first, I was advised that there were no knives and forks available, until my wife pointed out that they were an Italian restaurant in the evening - suddenly they managed to discover that they had got cutlery! I bet they've also got a big pepper mill for evening service! Total cost for two nights, including a disappointing breakfast - 30,780yen.

Room allocated was not what we booked & paid for

We booked this twin non smoking room with breakfast on hotels.com for Y15,560 for one night. We were allocated room 801 which apparently is also a relaxation room because it has a massage chair in it. The bathroom area was good, but the living sleeping area was completely cramped. It was advertised as 26sqm but was more like 15sqm. To use the massage chair you had to move a side table out of the way. As we are travelling in Japan for 4 weeks we have large suitcases which we had to unpack/pack on top of our beds. When i saw the other twin rooms on L8 i asked for a room like we booked on the website but they would not move us. We felt ripped off. The breakfast is okay.

Average and far from the station

Even though we had indicated preference of high floor and quiet room months ago, we were still given a low floor and facing the main street. It would have been nice to see the hotel making some effort to accommodate the needs of the guests since I do not believe the hotel was full occupancy the night we were there. Eventually, the reception changed our room free of charge but it was done rather reluctantly. Location wise, there is nothing much nearby. It is maybe 15 minutes walk away to the Toyama train station. The streets across the road seemed full of bars and massage parlors so we just decided to eat at the restaurant downstairs. It was quiet but the Italian food was satisfying and had large portions. The breakfast is at the same restaurant and is adequate. There is parking available onsite and appears to be motorized. You need to enter by the main road and not by the back as the gantry is in front. The room itself was average sized and unremarkable. The other Daiwa hotel near the train station is newer and might be worth considering.

Its around 3 mins walk to Toyama station! (Really close) with 7-11 downstairs. Room wasnt so bad, the bathroom was spacious ! The bed was also comfy. Would stay here the next time if we come to Toyama again!
