Central location in Kokura. new and clean rooms

They even have a floor level for ladies only. All floor levels are safe and comfortable though. Wife and daughter stayed here 2 weeks in Nov 2018. They liked it very much. Reserve a few weeks ahead for great deals. Saturday nights always the most difficult day to reserve and usually more expensive as it happens for all hotels in Japan. A few steps from the main station in Kokura for monorail, local train and bullet train Shinkansen. Great food options nearby including the fish market street.

Daiwa Roynet class comes to Kokura

Room 1013 has a large, maybe almost king bed and a view north, towards the station, one of the few rooms along the sides of the building that is not looking at the wall of a neighboring building. The room is well- designed overall, and the total area is larger than most. The desk and bathroom counters have a lot more space than usual. The desk light is very useful. Theres a massage chair with a table thats the right height for putting a drink or snack on while you watch the TV from the chair. The internet was fast for the entire visit. The window kips open, the Aircon works well and has an intuitive control panel. The one aspect that is not well- designed is the bathroom lighting. There is a single down- spotlight in the sink area, so there are dark shadows on your face when trying to shave a pox on the designer! I can imagine its even worse for make- up. The bed is very comfortable, and the room is quiet. Daiwa Roynet hotels always have very good bedding, and this is no exception. There is a small nook near the headboard with a shelp for phone and a mains plug for charger. There is a good reading light as well. Apart from the lighting at the sink, the bathroom is great. Its large, modern and has a glass wall with a glass door separating the tub / shower room from the rest. The tub is separate from the shower, like in Japanese homes. There is a nice shower wand and a rain shower. The tub and the shower armatures are thermostat- controlled, so there are no fluctuations in temperature, and it arrives at a stable temperature very quickly. The TV has English and other languages available and includes some useful things like the status of the breakfast area it even shows the status of the individual washing machine / dryers. No wasted trips to another floor, in other words. Love it. Breakfast is on 1F in the Salvatore Cuomo Italian restaurant. Its a nice buffet, with Japanese and western items, and some small squares of Margherita pizza, very tasty. The breads for toasting are excellent with real butter - and all the food items were very good.

    Grand Hotel

Booked in the train, just before arriving. They were worried if the bed was big enough for us Europeans. It was a big enough bed, in a big enough room. Located 5 minutes from the station, better book this one, instead of the much more expensive Kokura Station Hotel. Which is massive, by the way!

Lovely hotel just up the road from the station. Great staff and rooms.

Stayed here for 3 nights for the rugby at Kumamoto. Brilliant choice. Up the road from the station but too difficult to explain to you. We asked a local and he took us to it. How lovely. Some English spoken at the hotel. Higher rooms are better. Clean and lovely. Tons of shopping and eating around. Monorail goes past the hotel - follow that! Friendly and helpful staff. Laundry facilities in the hotel. Brilliant. Just a note there is a kettle but you have to get your tea and coffee from reception. This is supposedly for you to interact with the staff but this is not how it works. They don't speak a lot of English, there may be a queue, you may want a drink before or after you are dressed. It is not helpful at all and most unusual. Everybody else manages to give you drinks in your room. So do remember to take them up with you when you are passing. Very nice hotel though.

VISIT FAMILY AND TRAVELING ON BULLET TRAIN

We have been to Japan four times and we booked this hotel twice and managed to get the same room. On both trips we stayed for a month. The hotel Manager and staff were fantastic and very friendly and there was never a problem if we needed any help. The hotel could not have been more central in Kokura as it is 5min walk to Train and Bus terminal and very close to the famous arcade shopping streets. When going back to Japan, will be booking the same hotel.
