Great HolidayWe have just returned from a 10 day stay at this hotel. After reading some bad reviews we were expecting the worst. I am happy to say this hotel was very good. The Thomas Cook rep was very friendly and knowledgeable. The staff were very nice and helpful. The food was appetising, with a really good selection. The rooms are clean and comfortable. I had a problem with the hairdryer, it was rectified within an hour. The Entertainment (Amination) team were very nice. They work very hard to keep you entertained. The shops are 10 minute's away, by car. There is a bus service twice a day. There is a small shop on the resort where you can get bottled water, snacks, and other basic's. The views at this resort are fantastic, I don't think the photo's on the website do it justice. Thank you to all the hotel staff for making this a lovely holiday. Keep up the good work!

A good all rounderMy family made up of two adults and two children stayed at this hotel in the hight of the season. By now you will realise that you have to make your own mind up. I agree, the hotel is set way out of town, and yes you are advised of this in the brochure, you are also advised that to compensate for this there is a bus. Unfortunately this only runs if there are 10 people which is not often the case so you may have to invest in a taxi which will cost you 20 euros round trip. Not bad if you don't want to make the trip that often and to be honest the town is quite small, mainly restaurants so you probably wouldn't unless you take the ferry to the capital which is well worth the trip and very reasonable. Staff and accommodation: The staff were wonderful, friendly and extremly helpful. In the restaurant if you needed anything the hotel manager or staff were more than happy to assist you. The staff worked hard to ensure tables were cleared and we did not experience any difficulty in getting a table. I agree you do have to eat in doors due to the wasps but I fail to see how this is the hotels fault and is likely a common issue in most hot countries. The toilet facilities were also kept clean and were very modern. The main hotel, main swimming pool and bar areas have all been renevated and were very modern. Yes, the top swimming pool is still awaiting its update and I believe will be done for 2014. However whilst the main slides are missing the yellow slides were great fun for all ages including us adults as they were fast. We found this area the most enjoyable for the kids and us. The floats were a great addition to so no complaints here from us apart from you may like to consider putting in a snack bar up there to save the trec back to the main restuarant at lunch time as we could have stayed here all day. The bar lady and lifeguard who work at the top pool were fantastic and an asset to your hotel - they made are stay. The accommodation was very clean and quite modern and like everybody else the one thing you can't complain about is the amazing views. Food - I am sure that after spending two weeks in any all inclusive hotel the food does get a bit repetative. I can't honestly say the food was that bad, but after a week meat in gravey or tomatoe sauce for lunch and dinner does get a bit much and we stayed for two weeks. Also the meat is often on the bone which has been hacked so you do have to pick out the best bits. The chips were also a bit hit and miss and were often more like chip sticks than chips but hey do you go all the way to Greece to eat chips - sadly yes if you have fussy kids like we do. Drinks - the only real complaint I have here is the fizzy drinks machine. They really do need to invest in a better machine in the main restaurant as it often ran out or was flat. Finally, walking up to the top pool or back to your accommodation from the hotel is quite a hike especially in the heat. However after a few days you do get used to and its not like you havn't been warned - its not on the flat so don't moan when you get there. The evening entertainement for the adults is quite poor. The animation team however are great and do their best within the budget they are given and are NOT pushy. The greek dancers were about the best nights entertainement. The man on his piano was however aweful. I think we would have all appreciated a little more disco time so we could get up and boogie a bit. The enternainement for the children was very repetative - same thing every night - just involved the team asking them questions about what they did that day (always the same answers by the kids) a couple of dances and then questions about what they are doing the next day and then finished - again probably due to the budget. Spa treatments are very expensive but for us this was not an issue - we didn't go there for this purpose. Whilst I wouldn't go back to this hotel mainly only due to its situation we definately still had a good experience.

Good value, Good rooms, Good timesMany of the reviews we read prior to our trip were negative and we felt wary of the hotel. Needless to say we had an excellent time. Food: good variety and choice. unfortunately some reviewers don't understand the buffet concept and take it literally! This means to them pile everything on and have a bit of everything. This results in a samey food review. There was sufficient choice to have something different every day. fresh fish dishes, meat and pasta etc. Lovely salads, and gorgeous desserts! The restaurant was clean and the only downsize to our visit was the wasps on the outside terrace. If the manager had supplied wasp traps that might have aided the alfresco dining, but unfortunately we ate indoors on most occasion. Staff: Friendly and efficient, join in with Oskar's daily stretching! Patrick was very friendly and entertaining! Bar staff were friendly, reception staff excellent!! 5 star and couldn't do enough! Location: A bit remote and taxi a bit pricey 10 euro one way but once in Lixouri you could get about. Pool and facilities fine and clean The earlier reviews about Brits and sub loungers was a bit unfair as all nationalities flouted the 9am pool opening!! music around pool fine and animation team not too overpowering. One thing that was good was the multi nationalities in the hotel, don't particularly enjoy a Secular hotel as I personally go abroad to meet other nationalities. Rooms clean and basic Overall good vfm. We were a group of 7 two families with 3 kids all age 12 and we really enjoyed ourselves.

NiceMy partner and I stayed here for the first week of August last year, we had a lovely stay and the food was the best I have had in an all inclusive holiday. The only thing we didn't like was it was sooooo far away from every thing we walked an hour outside the hotel and came across 1 goat and 1 chicken so came back again there was nothing there. It was very peaceful down by the beach and very pretty. A word of warning this hotel is on a hill so anyone with walking difficulties would struggle we are a couple in our early 20's and were struggling. I felt this holiday was for families, perfect for children, especially as there is nothing around, So no where to spend extra money :D. I would go back with my family but not as a couples holiday.

Very PoorMyself, My partner and three children came here for our first ever holiday abroad August last year and I have got to say we were all very disappointed for a range of reasons. Firstly, we payed the extra money when booking this holiday with Thomas Cook to have All Inclusive. We did this so we didn't have to worry about taking extra money for food and drink. This is one of the main things we regret doing as it has to be said that the food at Cyprotel Kefalonia Garden Village is extremely poor. Our all inclusive package included breakfast, lunch and dinner and drinks. Sounds okay right?. No. It was a nightmare no variety at all, the same food being brought out for every sitting. All of us lived of bread and salad the whole week because everything else was food that looked incredibly dodgy and not fresh. We could of been eating dog for all we knew. Also the drinks offered by the resort were dreadful as they were from soda machines which were like drinking pure syrup, there was no range in alcohol and most importantly the water we had to pay 2 for which is appalling for an all inclusive holiday as keeping hydrated is really important as it was incredibly hot. After being at the resort for one day we knew that we had to go to find a local supermarket to get some drinks and food that we could actually enjoy eating and drinking. It has got to be said this wasn't easy as this resort is very isolated and you have to pay a taxi 10 each way to get to the nearest town Lixouri which was still very small and didn't offer a lot of food places. Luckily Lixouri had a port which had a ferry going to Kefalonias biggest town Argostoli. This cost us 15 each way for all our family. As you can see if you choose this holiday you would have to take a lot of money for transport. Overall we spent over 500 on transport as we decided that only way we was going to make the most of this beautiful island was that we had to hire a car to explore the island ourselves as this resort did not have anything appealing about it. Not a great place to go for a family holiday. The hotel itself was quite clean but some parts were rundown and needed some TLC. The staff were okay but the waitresses were quite rude at times and none spoke a word of English. Besides the actual resort Kefalonia as a holiday destination is a very beautiful and breathtaking place to go on holiday as when we hired out the car we managed to go to majority of the islands beaches which were great for the children as they got to go snorkeling and see some amazing fish. We would defiantly go back to Kefalonia but we would make sure we was at a resort which is central and NOT isolated like this one.
