  Unexpected service, reasonably priced

  As a frequent business traveller on her first trip to Shanghai I let my client choose the hotel. I was wary at first but soon I was happily surprised by the cleanliness of the property, the super efficiency of staff and the adjacent conference facility. One example. After 2 days the room safe with my cell phone, IPad and jewelry would not open. Using my phrase book, I communicated the problem to the front desk. Within minutes, a manager and handyman appeared and the problem was immediately resolved. The breakfast room was an amazing experience. A large buffet with a wide variety of nice typical Chinese fare, bok choy, dumplings, fried rice, noodles, dried fish, along side some Western palate options (the Chinese options far tastier) like dried cereal, coffee, toast, croissants and jam. Aside from front desk personnel the only English spoken was 'bye, bye' so be ready to say, please, thank you, hello and how are you AT MINIMUM in Mandarin. Safe, quiet sanctuary for a business or leisure traveler.

  Good beginning, but final rip-ff!

  Overall the place was good. The room was spacious, good facilities, good location. But the experience was ruined by the following customer service issue: When I checked in I asked for a late checkout, and was told that I would be charged 1.5 times the room rate for checking out by 7pm; and I agreed. I rushed back from my engagement, cleared out of my room, and got to the reception about 7:10pm. After a few minutes of admin work, I was presented with a bill for 2x the room rate! At that stage I looked at my watch and it was 7:15pm. I explained to the receptionist (not the same as at check-in) that I was told it would be 1.5x. The manager (whose English was not really operational) was called and told me very curtly that I had no chance of winning the argument.

  Stay only if you know Chinese###

  Stayed there for a few nights, stay here only if you know Chinese language otherwise it will be terrible for you. Rooms and hotel is good but staff is pathetic. They don't know English and are not willing to help you. Analyze before staying here.

  Room are big and nice but: A. Staff can help you and will not try if you only speck english. All togather staff was rude. B. Its 20-25 degrees but A.C. cant work on cold - "its not summer yet". C. No english chanels on TV. So its so so - can find better.

  The worst and the most unhelpful receptionist ever

  The hotel is comfortable and rooms are spacious BUT its damp, infested with mosquitos and the ceiling in the bathroom is falling apart because of the humidity in summer. But the worst part is the front desk service - a lady in short hair with a very bad temper, not only unhelpful but yelling and beating the customers. Shame because the housekeeping staff is very sweet and the location across from Shanghai International Dance Center is good. But I would not stay here again.
