Fine Lodging But Don't Expect Too MuchHotel Cypa has clean, simple, comfortable rooms for a good price. AC worked well, though wifi was weak on the upper floors (but easy to access on the ground floor). The airport shuttle is very convenient and went smoothly. The shuttle is useful because the hotel is not widely known and not very easy to find. I found that telling taxis the neighborhood ("Cocody Riviera Palmeraie") and directing them to the big mall Cap Nord was the best way to get there. It's a couple minute straight shot down a main road from Cap Nord. I found the staff and reception disappointing. Some booking sites say the hotel speaks your language but all the staff I encountered seemed to speak solely French. Staff in the shuttle told me I could change currency at the hotel but the woman in reception was frustrated I hadn't done so already. A staff member in the shuttle also talked to me about a day trip via hired car to Yamoussoukro, and quoted a price. I told reception I would like to book the trip but then the evening before the trip was told that the original price had (conveniently) not included the price of a guide. I asked if we could go sans guide since we really only needed to be brought to the sites but apparently that wasn't an option. The guide they sent with us knew nothing. When we toured the biggest Catholic church in the country, he couldn't tell me how many Catholics were in the country. When we toured a university, the same response when asked about students. He added nothing to the trip. And to top it off the driver ran out of gas on the way home, leaving us stranded by the side of the road for the better part of an hour (this despite me having paid for gas). So my advice, if you need a clean room on the cheap, go for it. But book tours/services elsewhere and don't depend on the (often surly) staff for anything beyond the room and the airport shuttle.

Built & Managed Unprofessionally - AvoidThe Asky airlines provided accommodation for a few hours due to a 12 hour delay in departure of their international flight from Abidjan to Dakar. Asky seems to have chosen the Cypa Hotel primarily for the low tariffs. It is evident that Cypa Hotel is built & managed unprofessionally. The Hotel is in Abidjan city, at a distance os 18 km from the airport; I was allotted Room # 36 on the second floor; there are no elevators in this hotel; rooms are on the first & second floor; hence, preferably take a room on the first floor; Room # 36 is big, has a big bathroom & a sitting area on the other side of the bathroom! i.e. the bathroom has to be crossed to move between the bedroom & sitting area! The main door did not close properly & it gave an insecure feeling. The approach road is under construction & quite rough; Food is ok; staff is helpful, but not professional; the hotel provides airport pick-up & drop. Definitely avoidable if you have a choice.

Unique experienceA group of us were taken to this hotel on the night of 12th Nov by Air Cote d'Ivoire after missing a connection. The receptionist was clearly half asleep - we arrived just after midnight. He motioned for us to write our names on a piece of paper. No other check in paperwork asked for. He was asked what time breakfast was and said it was 0630-2200hrs. Drive from airport was about 30-45mins but allows you to see a bit of Abidjan. I got no help with my case. There were 2 huge geckos in my room. I noticed the window in bathroom and bedroom had been left wide open. Clearly the hotel is still being finished(see photos). Rooms are entered via wooded doors on tje ground floor that look like garage doors. Then you climb stairs and enter your room. Receptionist took list of names, called us all to follow after him and pointed at rooms as he tried to pronouce our names. In the morning we nearly forgot one of our group as receptionist had no record. Turns our because we were such big group that some hadnt even realised we were asked for our details. Breakfast is an omelette with bread and tea/coffee, nothing else.
