  Your standard Crowne Plaza with some local twists

  We were excited when CP Tainan opened, and "thanks to" the pandemic, we finally had a reason to visit. For some reason the hotel was full during a shortened weekend, and we didn't receive a room upgrade. However, the hotel did fulfill our room requests and had welcome amenities ready in our rooms. Also, they did an excellent job on managing the crowd, because we could never tell the hotel was full otherwise. We had three Superior King rooms, and the room size we decent and offered sweeping view of the area. The open bathroom might not be liked by many, but it does make the room feel more spacious. However, quite a few spots in the room were not properly cleaned - there were stains in the sink, the bathtub, and some sand on the ground. Another issue was that the hotel was still offering single-use amenity that were made in some unnamed factory in China. There were plenty of power outlets and USB charging ports in the room. Wi-Fi was fast but not encrypted. Many of the facilities (pool, gym, open air garden, lobby bar) were closed or had reduced hours, which was understandable but a bit disappointing. The hotel is a short drive away to many attractions and restaurants in Anping, and probably walkable in the autumn or winter. I would recommend CP Tainan, and I would come back if the price stays reasonable.

  Service Restaurants Not Right

  When you check in you are greeted by a friendly valet doorman and cheerful check in personnel. That was all good. Rooms are spacious with comfortable beds and soft bedding. When we went down to try to get a drink, that us where service was largely nonexistent. Lobby bar was closed due to Covid-19 low level of business likely. Alright that's fine. So we wandered down to a restaurant, which was not yet open for the evening dinner buffet onslaught but a few tables outside in the hall were open I guess with a makeshift bar on a cart and folding tables. Alright that is somewhat understandable. But, when we tried to order it seemed the sole waitress needed to focus on Club members who were bellying up to the bar area for their free sodas and the like. Oh my goodness. I could not get a beer ordered or drinks for granddaughter and wife for ages, ages. Our poor waitress was busy. A manager of sorts we approached him but he was only able to give the waitress orders and dirty looks. Finally she brought a beer, not cold and a glass full of ice. Reminded me if southern Thai. Oh goodness. Same waiter gave her a shout and she got a cold one. I was thirsty, it was a hot day. Our martini came much later apparently made by a specialist. Next morning at breakfast buffet, doorkeeper tried to shuffle us to an off room with no people likely for two reasons: 1. We has a 2 year old (albeit she is so cute and mostly cooperative) and 2. They had a big breakfast rush and simply did not want to clear tables near buffet food areas because that would be simply too much effort. Yes, I found many hotels let breakfast diners finish their rush before clearing dirty dishes. That must be due lack a decent staff or young people are not aware it is impotent to do so. Alright, it is clear service has not been taught to any working staff. As an owner of a service company in Taiwan and Hong Kong, to me that means management has not transferred know how or a decent attitude to staff.

  Better than expected

  This hotel is a new modern international hotel with good design and service. We got the Japanese 4 person room and although it was a little expensive given peak time the good breakfast we had made up for it

  Best hotel in Taiwan period

  Ive stayed at many hotels in Taiwan and this is the best. 2nd best is the Marriott in Nangang btw. Great location. Close to attractions. Easy parking for cars and has four Tesla destination chargers. Beautiful trees outside. Can cycle via hotel provided bikes (one squeaked quite a bit though ) and they give you free water also. Breakfast was good with plenty of selection. Hotel decorations were excellent and kept with the period of Tainan. Welcome drink was a very nice touch and provided for all registered members not just platinum members like other hotels. 15% off restaurants. Room itself was nicely appointed but only two bottles of water. Hotel balcony was spacious and had a great view. Best hotel in Taiwan and a must stay in Tainan. Visiting there again soon for sure.

  THE best hotel we have been to!

  Stayed at the hotel for 3D2N to celebrate New Years Eve. Check-in was a breeze. Staff were very very accommodating. I have a broken leg but I was easily provided for a disabled bath chair and a wheelchair. Breakfast and dinner buffet choices were great! We had lunch at the Cantonese restaurant, how I miss Cantonese cuisine and they did not disappoint! Even the service staff there were very pleasant. Highly recommend the hotel. Never been to one that had such consistency. Truly 5-star! Thank you so much for helping us have such a convenient and memorable vacation!
