    Another lovely stay in Bowness

    Thank you again for a lovely stay in your B & B we enjoyed the comfort of our room which was very clean and well appointed. Understandably there are no cooked breakfasts at this crucial time and we were made aware of this at the time of booking our break. ( I think we would struggle to find a B & B who are cooking breakfasts at the present time). However the continental breakfast provided was sufficient to start the day and we were just pleased that under the circumstances we were still able to visit after a very strict lockdown . We hope to return again soon.

    Welcome stay

    I've stayed at Compton house on a number of previous occasions. I'd planned to visit earlier but lockdown and restrictions meant that I had to delay until September. Met as usual by the hosts Ed and Sue I was pleased to see the necessary precautions where put in place. The usual cooked breakfast was not on offer and explained clearly by Susan due to the pandemic but a continental option was available. This was reflected in the price. I was happy to see that they had taken steps to help prevent cross infection by putting the breakfast room out of circulation. I stayed 2 nights mid week and have to say that my room was comfortable and gave me an opportunity to sample the many cafes and restaurants in Bowness.

    Just what lockdown blues ordered!

    Always struggle between staying in Windermere village or staying in bowness but Crompton house was so perfectly situated half way between the two so I didnt have to choose! Due to Covid understandably it was a room breakfast for the safety of myself and also the owners but no complaints about that here due to how amazing my breakfast basket was! Im lucky to get dry toast in bed at home so the owners breakfast was such a sweet morning surprise! 100 percent be back soon! Thank you both so much for making our trip!

    Horrible Place

    Stayed here for 3 nights. Never saw the owners, despite trying to contact them. Room was old fashioned, and dated. Mould on the windowsill. Bathroom was not clean, Dirty net curtain at the window. Breakfast- was advertised as cooked, but was a bowl of cheap produce- going off bananas, cheap cholate chip rolls, and cereal bars. No orange juice. Towels not changed throughout the stay- I have clean towels daily at home. Cheap looking bed- not particularly comfy. With dirty pillows. This is the worst place I have ever stayed. Winderemere has some lovely bed and breakfasts- THIS IS NOT ONE OF THEM. AVOID STAYING HERE.

    Sadly gone downhill

    We stayed here 18 months previous to the visit, unfortunately this busy was shockingly bad. On arrival, the owner was out walking the dog and I was told my key was in the key safe, which I found but had to touch all other keys to get to. In my room was a laminate telling me that due to covid it was not possible to have a cooked breakfast, so there was a bowl with some fruit in, and as another guest says yes the bowl was rusty. The room was cold, at 18.15 we went out for dinner, thinking upon our return the heating would be on, wrong it was still cold. I called the owner who said she would sort it out, I called back 3 times that evening and 3 the next morning and all calls went to voice mail. By 09.30 and still no heating we decided to leave and book into a new hotel for the remaining 3 nights. I called the owner and much to my amazement an answer phone. These people are ignorant and do not deserve to have paying guests. Up to now, I have still received no explanation as to why I was not informed in advance about the lack of hot food and heating. From many of the reviews many people suffer with the same issue, Ignorance!!!!
