One night awayWe enjoyed our stay at the Thainstone. It was much improved from our last visit when our room was very run down. We stayed in an executive room which was steps from reception & restaurant. Although not the biggest room in the world it had obvious recently been recently refurbished & served our needs. I phoned the day before to book a slot in pool because of Covid restrictions. Unfortunately we could only obtain a half hour slot which made for a rather rushed visit. However we managed to get a slot the following morning for an hour albeit at 7.30! So would recommend booking in advance of your stay particularly at weekend. We ate in Green Lady restaurant at night. Beautiful setting but unfortunately a little disappointed in our steaks. Felt they were dry & overseasoned & arrived on a cold plate. Also no french mustard available? Breakfast was better great service & food. So overall a very pleasant stay although would probably book the bigger king room next visit.

Perfect weekend breakMy husband and I have just returned from a nights stay at Thainstone House Hotel and what a wonderful time we had. From the moment we arrived we felt welcome and safe. The hotel is set in beautiful grounds and the setting in winter time is stunning. We started our break with a visit to the spa where the staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly. We spent some time in the outside hot tub (lovely) and the jacuzzi by the pool. We then had a massage which was blissful - for anyone thinking of booking in for a treatment, I highly recommend it! It was then time for us to check into our room. The room was very spacious and there was even a personalised note welcoming us back to the hotel. The room has fabulous small touches, such as classical music playing when you enter, robe and slippers provided and an array of teas, coffee, biscuits and pretzels to choose from, with a small tea pot also included. We ordered some drinks to the room which arrived promptly and were really tasty. For dinner we ate in the Stockman's Bar where we encountered a fabulous waitress who was prepared with knowledge of what I could and could not eat (I have a food allergy). The highlight of dinner had to be the Baileys and white chocolate cheesecake, it was both gluten free and delicious. We followed up dinner with an Irish coffee which we both thought was the best Irish coffee we have ever had! The breakfast menu was varied and there were several options for diners with food allergies. There was another incredibly friendly male waiter whose smile could cheer up anyone's morning - the female waitress was not quite so helpful in regards to dietary requirements and did not seem too impressed when I asked what I could eat from the menu and did not offer to check with the kitchen, however after taking our order she did not return to the table and so we were left in the capable hands of the friendly male waiter. The food at breakfast was once again beautifully presented, fresh and tasty. Overall, our stay felt relaxing, peaceful and special. The things that make this hotel stand out are the little touches, a fresh fruit platter before your massage and a note in the room to welcome guests back. My husband and I cannot wait to return to the hotel with our friends and family for any special occasions, or even just for a weekend treat! Thank you to all at Thainstone House Hotel and we hope to see you soon.

One great night in this lovely hotelHi, we stayed for one night just before they shut down to enter tier 3. Magnificent junior suite with huge bath, generous seating area. Like the TV disguised as a mirror. Had dinner in the restaurant, it wasnt the full al la carte menu, but a trimmed festive one. Nonetheless, very well presented by a lovely waitress. I would suggest they add the room service drinks menu to either the website, or place a disposable one in the rooms same as the dinner and breakfast menus are. That way a guest knows whats on offer and the price. Otherwise you have no idea of the cost of drinks. It would also make sense to advise that the a la carte menu is suspended, again on the website or at check-in. I loved the huge copper bath, complete with TV. I would however suggest housekeeping/engineering sit in the bath to test the TV. I think they will find, as I did, that once in the bath the picture cannot be viewed at that angle. The installation of this TV flush with the wall needs a rethink. This is a magnificent house, with wonderful rooms and public spaces. We hope to return soon as possible once we can enjoy the place without all the social distancing rules. I wish the establishment well in these difficult times. Berni
