One night local stayI booked this hotel locally in the downtown area due to a company event for Friday, March 13, 2020 (event cancelled due to ongoing world conditions) I decided to keep my booking and spend the night. Check in was quick and easy and the young lady was so sweet, personable and accommodating (I wish I had gotten her name..approx 5:00 pm). I was informed off all amenities. The room was spacious, bright, very clean, and comfortable. The bed was very comfortable and I had a great sleep. Check out was easy (again I wish I had gotten the name of the friendly young man) ... I would definitely recommend this hotel to locals and visitors alike.

Why go anywhere else?We spent four nights at this property on our first trip to NL over the past week. The property is clean, well-maintained and attention to covid restrictions is appreciated. The star of this hotel is its staff...everyone is so friendly and polite, especially David at the front desk. What a wonderful asset to the Marriott team!! I must also comment on the Waterfront Restaurant, run by Chef Gerry, while his brother Gary mans the front of the house. The food is exceptional, fresh cod nightly, and the prices are very fair. We dont normally dine in our hotel but after our first night here, we saw no reason to go elsewhere. If youre going to St Johns, this hotel has checks in all the boxes. Thank you for a lovely stay!

FoodRestaurant was awesome, highly recommended anything as the menu choices are limited( Covid related?). Prices are very competitive, portion size could be better. Service was A+, (this is what service was meant to be). Restaurateurs take note.

They Take Elite Members SeriouslyI booked my stay for a business trip into St. Johns. It was also my first legit trip into Newfoundland, so I didnt know what to expect. Based on the pictures I saw online, the Courtyard was not the most appealing one room seemed dated, and the hotel itself seemed rather inn-like. I decided to still give it a try though because of the positive reviews, and let me tell you: they did not disappoint me. When I arrived I was truly pleasantly surprised by how they treated me as a Platinum Elite member, which is still a few levels away from top tier for Marriott. The two ladies that assisted me with check-in were extremely welcoming, upbeat and knowledgeable. They acknowledged my elite status, offered me the welcome gift options, and upgraded me into a full-size suite with a water view. And it was not only them that impressed me every single staff member I encountered were on the same level i.e. consistently warm and positive. COVID has turned this world upside down but the people here seemed to have their own idea, and I really appreciate the positivity they were showing during this hard time. My suite itself was roomy, and although it wasnt the most appealing suite appearance-wise, its got all the features I can ask for, including a smart TV. The view was enjoyable during sunny days and in my opinion even better when it rained. Parking was convenient and most importantly free. The hotel does feature a restaurant, however the hours didnt work with my schedule which was a shame. The only problem that I had was that the noises from the heavy equipment/cranes/ships sometimes do start quite early Im talking 6am early. I did have to wear earplugs to go back to sleep after I was woken up one morning. Though to my surprise this only happened during my first day here my sleeps were great the next few nights. All in all, like I said, the Courtyard isnt necessarily the best-looking hotel in town. Its not the fanciest either, and its got its imperfect quirks. But the people here truly made a difference. Im glad I chose this hotel as my first stop in Newfoundland, as it definitely set a positive tone to my entire week-long visit.
