  Average Courtyard in Good Location

  This is an older Courtyard that is showing its age but still provides a comfortable stay. Most of the rooms do not have a balcony, but at least my window was able to be opened a bit. My room also had a microwave and mini fridge. As with most Courtyards, there are not many TV channels. The bed was average but comfortable. There was a full trash can when I checked into my room, but otherwise it was fairly clean. The hotel's location is convenient to shopping and restaurants, as well as the highway. It sits atop a hill, offering a nice view and is relatively quiet.

  Shocked

  Unfortunately, I was very underwhelmed staying at this hotel. We stayed for one night, to cut our road trip in half. Our hotel room was dirty; you could tell it had not been vacuumed in quite some time....as there were crumbs, band aid wrappers on the floor. My pillow had orange stains on it. My husband and I walked the hotel to get some exercise the following morning, since the workout facility is closed. We were shocked to see all of the litter around the hotel, and garbage cans were overflowing. I understand the times we are in, and I realize that hotels have limited staff. However, I was very disappointed.

  Excels in many areas but could also up game on room detail.

  This Courtyard has a great staff - Leah and Mary are outstanding reps for the hotel. The 24 hour fire pit is gorgeous - the hotel itself is set back into the woods a bit in the upscale Moosic area. I found the overall appearance to be clean. The standard king is a bit on the small side and to me felt a little cramped. As a platinum member I asked and received an Executive King upgrade. If the price difference is nominal I definitely recommend with going with the larger Executive sized room. Bed was comfortable and I like the couch with the minimalist standing tray for reading, food etc. Coffee maker in room another plus. That said there were oversights in the room that should have been caught. The entrance light (the one attached to the entrance light switch) was burned out. Left in the compact fridge was a quarter bottle of white wine from a prior guest. During a time when guests need hotels to be thorough in their cleaning, missing the obvious doesn't inspire confidence in that regard. Also many of the Courtyards have converted from those wasteful mini bottles of shampoo to the upgraded in-shawer dispensers of body wash, shampoo and conditioner, but not yet here. Highly recommend Courtyard Scranton make this move. Overall I would return in large part for the personable staff and if this Courtyard can just cross t's and dot i's with regards to room presentation, it can be a great place to stay.

  Property run like a 2-star motel

  This property is very disappointing compared to other Courtyards. The internet service was terrible, constantly up and down. When asked if I am getting the stronger connection for top tier Bonvoy members, the response was we only have one level of service for all ... which is fine, except it was terrible. Even the TV complained of no connection to internet to view Showtime on demand, and other Showtime channels got dropped. Other choices of TV channels was adequate. The room was fine for the most part especially good to have both a mini-fridge and microwave, but not an efficient layout. The bathroom area is congested with a lower than normal toilet. The water pressure and hot water were good. The room air conditioner/heater was SO NOISY with loud bangs all not long ... interrupting sleep many times, a real frustration. Front desk are friendly but terrible uninformed about their hotel, just guessing many times about services and where to find things. The ice machine on first floor doesn't work, no machine on the second floor and on the 3rd floor the machine has no bottom to place a bucket below the dispenser. Only 4th floor ice machine worked properly. There is NOTHING on site to offer for breakfast, not even the pantry. This is a bit extreme not to offer any items from the pantry when everywhere else I have been in PA does offer normal pantry service. Cleaning staff were arguing among themselves in the next room, also annoying. The good size mall just down the road does offer many different eating places including 2 open at breakfast time. Unfortunately, the in room coffee is not very good. Not a good experience and not particularly recommended as a place to stay based on this multi-night stay during Covid-19 time.

  I booked a king room for January 16th. We had plans in the area and normally stay at this location 5x a year. I did receive notification on Bonvoy app my room is ready.We arrive and parking lot is empty. I walk inside to an empty desk. I call out several times and a man appears in a hoodie an says were closed go to Springhill Suites up the road. No way that place is a dump. Id rather the Fairfield Inn. He said theyre privately owned and I cant transfer reservations. What? So I told him to call Courtyard in Wilkes Barre. They did get us a room . I called Marriott and told them to notify customers. Customer service doesnt have them as closed. Well they are! So be prepared for an empty hotel!
