worst place to stay in portlandstayed here last year and this year. both the worst place ive stayed. dirty beds. stain, dirt, crumbs, and pubes. were all over my bed upon check in. the heater is broken and blows ac constantly (mind you it is winter!) the tv didnt work. the time before we had to change rooms twice because they both smelled of pee. and it was not coming from the bathroom it was coming from the bed and floor area. then to complete that stay we were hit twice in the parking garage and the general manger did nothing but be rude. talking about "park at your own risk, maybe i shouldnt have such a nice rig, i should try driving a beater" then to complete my stay this year. i was broken into and you guessed it gm was rude, my fault and i should probably drive a crappier looking car. whatever that means. the whole place is terrible. we had a group of poeple stay that got sick from the bistro, the place smells old. and some parts smell like straight as**, the parking garage is small and always packed. the whole outside of the place stinks of homelessness. being there is like 3 or 4 camps surrounding the complex. there has been construction going on for over a year now. that makes it worse. "loud and packed"

With BistroWe had a wonderful stay. If I had not read the reviews ahead of time I could have been unhappy about the construction & narrow roads leading into the facility. It is a bit off the main path. The key coded entry into the underground parking is a bit awkward. That being said we were pleased with our stay because of the service from the staff & even the construction workers. Lobby area part of the remodeling process. Our greeting was eye to eye contact and smooth check in. Even the person working The Bistro smiled and gave us a greeting. The room was larger than expected, very clean & fresh. Next time will ask for a view of the river. We opted for dinner at The Bistro and were pleasantly surprised with the personality of the staff. His promptness in taking our order & attentiveness to detail made this a "almost home" feeling. Food was fresh off the grill & hot. We returned for breakfast also. My wife recommends their Avocado toast. This is an interesting Bistro because it includes Starbucks and has a full service bar. The dining space is large with many semi private areas. It looks out towards the large patio area overlooking the Columbia River.

GreatWe stayed here using park and fly. We have been there numerous times and this time was no exception, the service and place was great. Recommend a room with harbor view very calm and peaceful setting. They were doing some work on the front drive but it didnt impact us

Acceptable alternative to the pricey downtown hotelsSure you could pay a lot of money to stay downtown and walk to things, but if you have a car, this place is just a fine alternative and many of the nicely updated rooms have river views. Service was friendly. As others have noted, there's construction at the entryway but the advantage of this is that the hotel is clearly labeled with temporary signage among a cluster of two other kinds of Marriotts. We had stayed in one of the others a couple years ago and prefer this one now since the underground parking is a nice security bonus in one of the many big cities that's given itself to the homeless. The downsides are what you'd expect from a budget Marriott: walls are paper thin so it's luck of the draw if you get noisy neighbors. We awoke to people walking above us at 2 am, and someone flushed a toilet above us at 4 am and the noise seemed so close, my addled head thought I was going to get splashed with water. But that's pretty much the modern hotel and as I say, it's luck of the draw. The chief reason to stay at a Courtyard in particular is the Bistro which has good offerings, though hours are limited. I adore the vanilla walnut oatmeal breakfast and it's the other main reason we stayed here, so it was ironic that I was politely told they were out of nuts and bananas. The server made a nice alternative out of strawberries and blueberries but it still suggests they need to sharpen their food supply chain. At least the Keurig in the room was well-stocked. But .. that's all quibbles. We saved a lot of money staying here.

Construction doesnt excuse this experienceThe hotel is under construction... not uncommon. However, there is NO outdoor sign to tell you where to park your car during check in... and no area of the street marked off for load/unload. Our room was on second floor and overlooked the roof of the pool... which had garbage left all over it. Ive been gold/ platinum with Marriott for well over a decade. I would have expected at least an ok experience. THe staff was very friendly... but someone doesnt know how to run a hotel under construction. Give this place a few months before you give it a try.
