    Home away from Home

The hotel is a gem. Melissa at the front desk is amazing. Very friendly and checked us in quickly and upgraded one of our rooms to a suite! I locked myself out of the room with the security clasp on and the hotel staff with Melissa arrived within minutes to assist. We stay here about once a month to visit our daughter in college and truly, its home away from home!

Step right up and get your Covid here!

They can advertise their covid protocols all they want and post signs too, but watch out! No amenities for a 2-3 star price to help fight Coronavirus, BUT no masks in sight despite signs. Front desk morning person, room cleaner, guests and packed elevators all with no masks in sight. Also no satisfaction survey sent to those who voice legitimate grievances. Where are those pesky surveys when one needs them?. Covid is deadly real, it is the policy of his property that is the hoax.

The room we had 428. Had a major mold issue. Above desk, the wallpaper Was peeling off and showed major mold on back of paper and wall. Manager was not really interested. She did move us to another room. The bathroom floor in that room was half clean and other dirty. There was mildew and mold around edge of tub. This mold is a health hazzard

The GM is extra possessive of those 1 bedroom suites like she purchased them herself

My first stay here I loved it. My man and I stayed for his birthday in Dec in the 1 bedroom suite. So I thought I would come back. Jan 4-7 and then again more recently the 20 to the 25th. I am a titanium elite rewards member with Marriott. So I spend a crap ton of money with Marriott so their employees should always be happy to have me.... you can bet thats not the case with this place. All great staff. But the GM she either doesnt want me in the suite or shes like this with every guest in the suite either way its uncalled for. All my stays I stayed in a suite. The very first time I stayed in December I asked for 5p checkout instead of 4. (Platinum and up members get this amenity). The front desk lady was so nice and accommodated it and ever since then Its like the GM found out and decided no such accommodations will ever be made again. So my stay Jan 4-7 I stayed with points so I stayed free. Come the 7th I wanted to book a stay again for one more night same room. The GM has her AGM tell me no I cant stay in that room because its sold out. She even got a little upset that I wanted to stay again saying I didnt tell her I would even be staying the 6-7 and theres only 6 suites and they need them to free??? In my mind Im thinking free for what? Decoration ? But ok. So I ask If I can stay til 5. She swears that 4 is the latest and she needs to get her people in to clean. And she cant have them clean an hour later. Well she got busted in that silly lie. I accidentally left my vest on the luggage cart, and my son left some clothes in 328 (the room we stayed). I didnt retrieve my stuff for a week so it sat plenty, in the bags that held my items were 2 slips. Each one had date, time and place item was found. Guess what? I checked out the 7th, thats the day she swore she needed to get in and clean the room and it couldnt be an hour off right? The slip with my sons clothes was dated the 8th, 10:30a Room 328. Yes ladies and gentlemen that extra hour was a lie. Her cleaning crew didnt clean until next day regular cleaning hours?? Mind you we got to stay in the suite because the room with 2 queen beds had a dirty tub. It was their apology, I didnt request the suite this go round. Also Im titanium!!!! I get free upgrades!!!! Duh duh youre suppose to treat me elite! So today I checked out after a 5 day stay. 20th to the 25th and I stayed in the suite. We bounced around on the first night from 228 because the toilet was stopped up, to 200 (200 was too small I asked to move) Then finally 328. I have a relationship with this room lol. Last night I made a reservation on points again and wanted to keep my room. Can you guess what? Yes you guessed. I of course was not allowed to keep my room for my stay. This time they were supposedly sold out and a guest needed it tonight. They have 6 suites total from my understanding and let them tell it theyre always sold out or need to be empty for whatever special guest they pretend to accommodate. Yes I say pretend because the suite is available right now on their site... Im confused by Melissa holding the room hostage but I think its really the GM holding it hostage because today when they told me I had to be out by 4 she had to ask the GM. As Im loading my things in the car the GM wont stop staring me down. Never met this lady before lol what could she possibly have against me? Shes also magically leaving work when Im leaving. Which in my mind I thought to hop online and rebook my room. But I didnt. I questioned whether to even write this. But I would rather write here than call into corporate over something so small. Customer service is not the best with GMs in Monroeville Marriotts. They act so entitled. I will tell you that Holiday Inn Express in Monroeville is IHG owned and those people do their best to make you feel your best. But just be careful, staying in those suites apparently theyre precious. More precious than you being titanium elite, more precious than your satisfaction, theyre just precious precious like the ring in the lord of the rings movie. I chose to stay at spring hill suites in bakery square. Very nice and they love you, your points and your status
