  Appalled.

  Okay the property is nice, but its absolutely not following any CDC guidelines. Entering the building, you see masks required / do your part! signs, but when we entered, the lobby was crowded as a pre-pandemic bar, and not a mask to be seen. Even the check-in concierge was bare-faced. I dont want to be a reverse-Karen, but oh man this has been bugging me the last 3 hours of my stay. Yuck. Marriott, try harder.

  Very Enjoyable stay

  We came in on Saturday for a weekend trip and left out on Monday morning. We used our app to check into our room and it was available early, so that was a nice bonus. We got a dbl queen room with a couch. The room was spacious and very clean. The overall appearance and cleanliness of the property was great as well. The staff was always accommodating and courteous. We spoke with the staff at night at the desk both Sat and Sun when we needed extra coffee for our room and they were always great!. We plan to return later in the year. As far as COVID comments from others. A hotel's staff cannot monitor huge groups 24/7 and be the mask police. There is plenty of signage and from what we saw when we were there, the staff were following mask protocols.

  Great Hotel

  As Marriott Bonvoy members, we decided to check out the Courtyard in Pigeon Forge. Excellent hotel and very modern / up to date. Room was really nice - huge walk-in shower and a balcony as well. We had asked for a "mountain view" when making the reservation, but was given a "river view" instead. The river view - of the Pigeon River is okay, but not much else besides that. No idea if the "mountain view" would have been better - as the mountains are pretty far away and with all the Entertainment in Pigeon Forge in between. It has both an indoor pool and one outside that looks like a lazy river. Did not use either. Also a hot tub is outside - did not use that either. My only real critique of any Courtyard Hotel is they don't have a "free" breakfast like others in the Marriott chain and you pay more for Courtyard as well. While Covid is still in effect, this is a minimal issue - since no other hotels we've stayed in had a "real" breakfast - just box type meals. I DO highly recommend this hotel as it is pretty central in Pigeon Forge and close to many restaurants / activities / entertainment. Would stay here again for sure.

  Weekend Getaway

  Was looking for an extremely reliable to hotel that would give us a good time with no complaints. Courtyard by Marriott did not disappoint. I bought this through Priceline and its listed as a 3 star hotel. This hotel goes alongside most four star hotels. Very happy with our stay here. Thank you for keeping up with standards when times are tough for hotels.

  Thin walls and floors resulting in poor sleep quality. Not for preferred Bonvoy Elite members.

  Well, another example of where the TA reviews lead us astray and we certainly werent treated like a preferred Bonvoy member at this particular location. Usually Marriott stays are positive, but not at this Pigeon Forge location. Thankfully, we stayed only one night, but what a lousy night it was. I dont know that this location is necessarily concerned with providing excellent customer service or a high level of hospitality. I will say, based on the stellar reviews, its possible that we were the unlucky ones that night to be situated near the loudest guests above and next to us. However, we did specify at the time of making our reservation that we had wanted a high-level floor and/or an end-room since we do tend to be light sleepers, however our request clearly wasnt acknowledged via the Bonvoy app or at check-in. We were given Room 424 and it was still midnight on Saturday night when we could hear banging next to us and kids (at least we dont think it was adults) running around on the 5th floor. I had to put earplugs in to attempt to get some peace while trying to fall asleep. Apparently, they were booked so they couldnt move us to a quieter room, but if they had reviewed our request in the app at the time we made the reservation, they would have time to grant the request for a quiet room on a top floor, but I dont think they actually read the special requests of guests prior to their arrival. For example, a request was also made for extra towels to be put in the bathroom since we know that housekeeping no longer makes up the rooms during the day, so we always like to have extras on hand. As you can see in one of my photos of the bathroom, there were no extra towels. There were hand towels and wash cloths and only 2 bath towels which, for a room with 2 double beds, would actually be less than standard. According to JC, however, he claims our request for extra towels and foam pillows was met it was not. Im not sure how he can know that, but we were physically in the room and saw no extra towels or foam pillows. He did say that he would share my feedback with the appropriate hotel teams, but that really doesnt make up for the very uncomfortable night we spent there only to wake up absolutely exhausted. The positives would be that theres free parking and it doesnt smell of smoke (though the air deodorizer they use is very, very strong) and its fairly new, so the furnishings are relatively damage-free. But, we definitely wouldnt stay here again. The walls and floors are thin; breakfast is not provided; no fan in the bathroom; weak water pressure in the shower; Chapstick-size bath amenities; being a preferred Bonvoy member does not result in any benefits; special requests are all but ignored.
