Excellent hotel right on Neuse River and adjacent to historical district with excellent restaurantsVery nice hotel with excellent river views, adjacent to great park for hiking, and adjacent to historical area with great restaurants. Great free parking, clean, modern. Good for vacation or business. Good for couple getaway. Lots of boat and bridge traffic to enjoy. Safe and quiet. Adjacent park is great for recreation and entertainment.

Don't stay at Courtyard by MarriottI recently traveled to New Bern, NC and stayed at Courtyard by Marriott. About a week prior to arriving I called and made a reservation . I chose this Hotel because they stated that there was an outside pool which was open. I stated that I required an upper level floor which they stated was not a problem. When I arrived I was told that the Hotel was under renovation and that they only had a 1st floor room available. I was also told that the pool and fitness room were closed. That room service was not available every day and if you need towels or toilet items you would have to get they at the front desk. If you wanted your room cleaned you could asked at the front desk and could only get the room cleaned every other day. I stated that the room rates should be reduced because of this. They state that was not possible. I informed the assistant manager that if I was informed of this when making the reservation I would have stayed at Motel 8 which has about they same type of service that was being offered by them at a much lower rate. The next day they did move us to a 3rd floor room and after 3 day the fitness room did not open. The only elevator at the Hotel was often littered with construction debris. It should be noted that during most of our stay the outside temperature was over 80 degrees and that is why we chose a Hotel with a swimming pool. Scott & Diane Harrington Connecticut

Loved the views but overpriced for services offeredChosen because of location and looked nice on website. We stayed on the third floor. The pool was closed. The elevator and 1st floor smelled like natural gas. We mentioned twice and was told that it was from the laundry room. The fire department had been called at some time in the past. The smell was VERY strong. There was painting being done on our floor. The electrical outlets in our rooms would hardly hold our chargers to charge our phones and other electronic items. Wouldn't hold the cord for the hair dryer without falling out. We feel like we were overcharged due to all the construction and items not up to date among other things mentioned. We hadn't been there but a half hour and the fire alarm went off. Otherwise we enjoyed New Bern. We got to do a lot of walking and sight seeing. The local restaurants/taverns had wonderful food.

The General Manager approached me in a threatening manner! The General Manager of the Marriott Courtyard in New Bern, NC approached me in a threatening manner as if we wanted to fight me because I asked him to correct a bill where he double charged me (for the second time). Backstory: I've been a guest/resident of Courtyard Marriott in New Bern since June of 2020. My house is currently under construction and have been displaced for two and half years. In 2018, I lost my home to Hurricane Florence. One month after losing my home, I was diagnosed with an invasive breast cancer. Construction was delayed after a contractor stole from me. On February 25, 2021, I received an incidental bill in which I was overcharged by hundreds of dollars. Because it was a pattern and has occurred before, I went to the front desk and asked the GM to send me a corrected statement. I explained to Reg that my bills are throughly checked by an accountant and a law firm. When they see discrepancies, they call his clerks and they are held up on the phone until the bill are corrected. Reg responded, "You can't charge anything in your room anymore." I asked, "Are you retaliating against me because I asked you to send me the correct bill?" Reg responded, "Now you can leave. You cant stay here anymore." Puzzled I said, "Normally, a customer is told I am sorry. I'll correct the problem and I can assure you it won't happen again." He goes on to say, "No one cares about your money. I responded, "I don't think you care about my money. As someone who is recovering from cancer, looking for employment and is displaced, I care about my money. Every dollar counts until I am back on my feet." He steps from around the desk, pursues me in a threatening manner, stops me in the lobby, puts on his mask (it wasn't on before), gets arms length distance from my face at a time we should be social distancing and says "Say it to my face!" I take one step closer to him and responded, "Okay. I'll say it to your face. Please send me the corrected bill and it will be paid today." Then I walked off. I knew he was trying to provoke me into doing or saying something that would justify his remarks but I didn't fall for it nor did I yell at him. When I get to my room, I was in shock. He immediately calls and says I have the corrected bill. I asked him to email it. He says he is sorry. I said okay. The next day, February 26, 2021, he calls and asks me to pay the bill again. I informed him it was authorized for payment by the close of the business day yesterday and it should be paid. I apologized that his clerk didn't communicate with him. Once he confirms with his clerk that the balance is zero, Reg goes on to say, "Are you staying here?" I responded, "I would like to stay without further incident." He responds, " Well I am not God, I can't guarantee that." My response was, "I am not God either, but I can assure you that you won't have trouble from me." He says, "Okay." I hang up. As soon as I hang up, the phone rings again. I didn't want to answer. He calls again. I answer. He says, "You need to leave." I asked, "What did I do now Reg?" He says, "You hung up on me." I responded, "I am sorry you didn't like the closing of the conversation, but once you said 'okay' I thought we reached an understanding and it was okay to end the call." He says, "If you're going to stay here, you'll stay under my rules, do you understand me?" I said "Yes sir." Then I asked if it was okay to say goodbye and hang up the phone. Once he gave me permission to end the conversation without repercussions, I immediately sought shelter at another hotel and escalated my concerns at the corporate office. I asked them to start their investigation after I leave for safety concerns. This experience was misogynistic and frightening. I am not sure what motivated him to treat me like this..... SEX? DISABILITY? RACE? IT was UNPROFESSIONAL and FRIGHTENING! All of this is on security footage and two female clerks at the front desk witnessed this behavior. **In six months this hotel has had no problems from me. The've received timely payments. I've gone out of my way to be nice to the entire staff and tried to treat them like they are my freinds. Upon my exit, many of the employees expressed how they were sad to see me leave.

Mom-cationMy main complaint is my room had only ONE working outlet (not including the one in the bathroom) so i could not charge my phone near my bed. Other than that no major complaints. There are some anesthetics that could be better but nothing awful.
