  Courtyard Bangor

  It's a good mid-range hotel. I would rate it 5-star if not for the packed-to-go breakfast which is a covid dictated necessity . You can buy starbucks coffee at the bar in the morning though. The room was as expected with a quiet yet powerful A/C. The staff are nice and helpful although they do not provide any room services including cleaning to minimize staff interaction with guests, another covid fallout.

  The COVID experience

  The room was very clean with items that are commonly touch (ex. remote, shampoo, soaps) are bagged up. There are no room coffee makers and no informational material or notepads with pens in the room as one would have found before the virus hit. Those were the obvious changes and some examples of precautions in our room. We did see many precautions in common areas being taken. The entire place is very clean. The Bistro is closed so that Courtyard service is temporary suspended. The staff make up for the difference in the lack of the typical Courtyard experience one had before COVID. Beds are comfortable. We had plenty of room to spread out and keep our belongings organized.

  Not clean room

  We were looking for a Marriott near Acadia National park. Unfortunately the closest Marriott was in Bangor which was over an hour away. I gave them two stars because of how they responded to a mishap at check in and the pile of chew on the side of the bed that was not cleaned. In fact the room was not clean. Fortunately I brought cleaning supplies and cleaned the room. Shortly after we checked in, we got two knocks in our door. The first was a couple who were going to their room. The second from the gentlemen at the front desk. He accused us of going to the wrong room and said that was not our room! He demanded to see the key holder because he didnt believe me when I said the room number was what was written on the holder. As I turned to get the key holder, the door was closing. He stumped his feet loudly to hold the door open with his foot. Really? Also how could be enter the room if we had the wrong room!?!?!! He asked to to come downstairs to resolve this issue. So I got dressed and put on my shoes and headed downstairs. We booked the same type of room as the other couple. He could have fixed it without me going downstairs. He said his coworker make keys for both couples for the same room. It took him awhile until he finally apologized. He did come up with the solution of switching rooms. That could have been done seamlessly without both couples knowing there was an issue. He also offered free breakfast to go and coffee. The bed and pillows were comfortable and the view from the room was nice.

  Expectations Fell VERY short!

  When we arrived I asked for an upgrade because all other Marriotts ARE MORE than willing to do that! (I am a rewards member with a lot of points) I didnt get an upgrade instead I had to pay extra because my reservation said only 1 bed and I needed two. NEVER have I ever had to do that. No USB port charges. Room was clean and nice but nothing super great. Very disappointed in the customer service. ALL other Mariotts work hard at making things great! This hotel DID NOT! There are many other Mariotts in the area stay there!

  Good option in Bangor

  We found the Courtyard Bangor to be a pretty typical Courtyard by Marriott. The room was clean and tidy and we felt very comfortable there. The bed was excellent and the staff was very helpful. We were asked if we wanted to use the pool or exercise room so they could make arrangements for us to do so alone. The hotel is well located off I-95. No food because of covid but Starbuck's coffee was available int the lobby.
