  a quiet holiday resort

  We enjoyed our week at the Countrytime Hotel, it is very centrally located to many central Otago and Canterbury attractions and yet is a very quiet location and yet has excellent facilities, with sufficient facilities in the township to cater for most needs

  Peace and Quiet

  Holiday to somewhere different: among many fine folk (many from abroad) It is likely to be on our agenda again sometime Location is excellent - many attractions within reach Peaceful walking environment

  Would not recommend

  We stayed here for one night. Arrived around 6.30pm. Dark and dingy reception. Room was depressing. Carpet 40 years old. Peeling wallpaper. Mouldy flaky paint. Musty smell. Tiny Tv on a shelf which could not be seen from most of room. Restaurant was closed as no chef and there was nothing else open except another hotel that reception recommended. Strangly enough the duty manager shown in both hotels was the same name! Certainly would not stay again or recommend. Cheap but certainly not cheerful. We left at 7am next morning.

  Quiet and comfortable

  We stayed here en route the A2O track, which was great, because it is the first stop as you get to Omarama. The reception was warm and welcoming, with tips of places to go. Within easy walking distance to the little village, hot pools and other attractions. The beds were comfortable. Although clean, the place is quite dated as far as the carpet and overall features are concerned, and especially the bathrooms can do with an upgrade. Overall, a pleasant stay.

  Fawlty towers revisited

  What a mess!! Towel that smelt like anglers had used them, shower head kept falling off wall, paint peeling off sill in bathroom, handbasin in carpeted area, kept sliding to centre of bed and room had a musty smell on entry. We had read previous reviews but were thinking it was just a whining tourist. We were wrong. Got up early to leave early. Even left coffee unfinished. I would dare to say that this motel has not been upgraded since construction (it still has sickly coloured pink toilets). Must say though the workers were all very nice and work with what they are provided with. You get what you pay for and thats too much. Worst hotel/motel we have ever been to.
