Great place!!!I stayed here to go snowboarding in Hakaba and I had a great time. It's run by a lovely Japanese family and has great service. This place is a hidden secret only known to the Japanese. The place was complete booked out whilst we were there and we were the only foreigners, however we much preferred it that way, since it was closer to the experience we wanted (i.e no rowdy young backpackers). It's a relaxing family/friends stay type of place. The owner speak some english and my boyfriend speaks some Japanese so we didn't have any trouble with communication. If you call or tell them when you're coming they offer a pick up service which is fantastic when you've got lots of luggage and ski gear. If you are travelling in the summer it is a easy walk from the Hakuba bus station. We didn't bring our boards so Mr. Kashiwabara brought us to a local rental store which was much cheaper than spicy rentals and all the other english rental places around there. The store also picks up the boards from the Inn once your done with them, so all you need to do is leave the boards at the inn when you are done. I think Country Inn Kashiwabara also have ski's which they offer for rental (as most Japanese people ski) but not snowboards. During the winter there is a ski shuttle which picks people up at the Lawson which is two doors down (one minute walk). We were a little bit confused the first day and missed the shuttle but Mr Kashiwabara was kind enough to drop us off at the slopes. I definitely recommend getting theirnbreakfast which is very filling. We went out to eat dinner around echo land the first night and we manage to find a nice little place but it was quite expensive and the rest of the places were aimed at westerners and backpackers. Kashiwabara offers dinner which changes every night and we found it a lot easier and better value to just eat in, especially after a long day of snowboarding. The dinners were unique, yummy and filling. The bathroom is a communal bathroom, one for males and one for females. I am quite shy when it comes to onsens and communal bathrooms, however, every time I was in there it was always empty, even though the Inn was at full capacity.
