Lovely place just outside Assisi, lovely host! When searching for a place in the country side but not too remote to Assisi, we stumbled upon this place and decided to stay here for two nights. You need a car to stay here since it is about 5km out of Assisi on a steep mountain road. The Pro Vobis is a small place with 8 rooms. Rino, the host, is a lovely man who speaks several languages (I heard him talk fluent French, fluent English, some German and of course Italian) who makes every effort to make you feel welcome and comfortable. Each room has a private terrasse or balcony, free WiFi, free parking of course, A/C and a safety deposit box in the room. The mattress was very comfortable, everything was spotless clean. The pool area is very nice with deck chairs, umbrellas and a view into the valley and even a jaccuzzi. Continental breakfast is included, if you would like to have dinner there you would need to order it in the morning (since we arrived in the afternoon we were not able to have dinner the first nigh we arrived which was a shame since there are no restaurants around). Here's a list of PROs and CONs (not real con's, just some things to consider): PRO: + lovely quiet location just outside of Assisi + nice pool area + nice room with comfortable bed, good bathroom, AC and deposit box + lovely and extremely helpful host + lovely sunset views + free WiFi and parking CON: - only accessible by car - complicated TV set (decoder etc) without manual in room - far from restaurants, next supermarket is in St Maria Degli Angeli RIno establishes this place as a forum for international artists of any kind (painters, sculptures, singers, musicians) - when we stayed there a troupe of French artists stayed there as well who spent their days in the atelier on the grounds. In the evening we heard a singer sing lovely songs into the valley. We enjoyed a lovely (vegan) dinner together and all sat together at a long table and chatted in many languages, our host Rino always there to bring lovely food, wine and make everybody feel mostly welcome and comfortable. We could highly recommend this lovely location and would return anytime soon when we plan our next trip to Umbria. Thanks to Rino for this lovely place!

I'll never stay anywhere elsePro Vobis is a gem of a place, set high up in the hills above Assisi. Rino is a wonderful host and immediately stole my heart. He is warm, charming, caring and hands down the best cook I've ever known. He loves what he does and he takes a lot of pride in it, which is something you cannot put a price on. I could write pages about the meals he prepared for us. I say prepare very purposefully rather than cook. You need to give him a list of nights that you want to dine in. He will then go and buy all the ingredients fresh and spend all day preparing your meal. To this day I can still taste the handmade lasagna with white sauce he prepared for our first meal. Utterly amazing! The grounds are well kept with rosemary and rose bushes and there is a pool that was covered because it was not quite summer yet when we were there (May 2015). He had plans to build a kitchen area down by the pool and I hope he was able to do so because it would be a wonderful addition to an already magnificent place. The entire place has only 8 rooms, the four of us were the only guests there at the time and had the entire place to ourself. You could easily book all 8 rooms up with friends and feel like you are on your own private summer home in Italy! The rooms were very comfortable, I suggest getting the rooms with a patio and the view; they are worth every penny! Each morning I woke up, walked into the main house and there would be wonderful italian breakfast waiting for us. My routine consisted of grabbing some coffee, walking back to my room and sitting on the patio, overlooked the rolling hills of Perugia, drinking my coffee and putting on my makeup underneath a lovely tree that has a cute story to go with it. If you ask Rino, I'm sure he will be glad to tell you about the tree he himself planted many years ago. After coffee it was back to the main house for breakfast. Usually some bread, preserves, orange juice/coffee/water, prosciutto and cheeses. You do need a car, as the Country House is up the side of the mountain, so you should be proficient in driving standard or you will have some issues with the winding road. Also, to clarify, I say mountain but don't think you're driving up Everest... it is called Monte Subasio, and is part of the Apennine range and would only be difficult if driving standard for the first time. There is free Wifi, A/C, safe deposit boxes if needed, they are cleaned daily when you're out and about, free parking too! I saw on a previous review the mentiono of a CON being how far it is from places. It is true, the trip down the mountain was only about 10 mins at most but it was a winding road and that could be a CON for some. I was the driver most times, so I couldn't appreciate the views as we ascended/descended the mountain, but my passengers couldn't get enough of it. So that is personal preference. Regarding vicinity to stores/restaurants, that too can be handled easily enough with some planning. One night we were exhausted from touring around the country (day trip to Lago Trasimeno) so we stopped and bought prosciutto, cheese, olives and wine (a lot of wine) and just had dinner on the nice veranda as we watched the sun set behind the hills. So for me, no issue with regards to vicinity. Never turned on the tv once while I was there, no need, but there is one in each room although I imagine it's all in Italian, but who watches tv on vacation anyway ;)

Beautiful setting fantastic host and coming back to freshly picked apricots in our room was amazing! We will definitely return here again in the future, do yourself a favour and experience the fantastic hospitality, scenery, and experience perfection in Assisi!

Assisi RetreatSet in the hills over looking the historical site of San Francisco, this country house was my retreat for few nights. The host was very welcoming and a gem to talk and listen to. If I am ever in Assisi again, I would not hesitate in coming back to this place.
