    Nice and relaxing

I found this residence very comfortable and charm...located outside esperlonga but easy to reach. Only 10 minutes walking distance to reach the old town. The apartments are in a high hill with nice view; it was clean, the swimming pool was very efficient and well maintance.

    Good value. Lovely views.

This is a bit like a holdiay camp. I was a bit surprised to be handed sheets with which to make up the bed on arrival. We had a chalet, high up on a hill with stunning views of the sea, Ponza Island and the hillsides. The accommodation suited us as we only made breakfast in the chalet. A very nice young man took us to the beach and town every day in the courtesy bus. We walked back up from the old town after dinner in the evenings. It is a steep climb but only took ten to fifteen minutes. The pool is lovely. It was quiet every day and the views are really beautiful. We ate in the reastaurant twice. The food was nice enough. The service was a bit amateurish. It may become more assured as the season goes on. The complex was very quiet in spite of the very hot weather. N.B If you attract mosquito bites, be vigilante every evening. I tried various repellents but they still got me several times. Also: It really is advisable to have some Italian language if you choose this place.

    The best and worst...

We stayed the first week of September 2016, having booked through Low Cost Hols, who went broke, we paid the hotel direct which was fine and even worked out cheaper! Firstly this is an amazing location Kosta Kair is in the hills and is a bit like a holiday village centred around a central pool and buildings. By far the best thing is the pool the views are incredible! It is also very clean (you have to wear a swim cap which can be bought on site) and go through a foot bath and shower before entering pool area. We arrived at around 10pm, having got the train from Rome to Sperlonga and then a 20 minute taxi (there are busses but they finish around 7.15pm) The reception was closed so we had to call the owner who arrived shortly on a moped and booked us in. There is very little lighting or signage. We got lost in the dark trying to find our room luckily the owner realised this would happen and turned up on his bike again to show us where to go. The accommodation is extremely basic, but reasonably spacious. We were given a pack of sheets and what looked like very large white tea-towels which confused us until we realised they were for the bathroom! They did the job though so cant complain. Hmmm the bathroom. Again, spacious but very sparse and no toilet paper (the loo did not flush very well either). There was a bath with a shower head, but no hook to hang it on the wall I rigged up a makeshift device using an old coat-hanger and attached it to the towel rail, There was no shower curtain so the place got flooded regularly and bizarrely there was no mop I had to buy a floor cloth in town. The water pressure was good though, and we always had hot water. The bedroom was also spacious, with a decent firm mattress on the bed. It had ample wardrobe space always appreciated - and a small 14 TV (old style not flat screen) but only a couple of Italian / German channels available. There is no safe, and only one plug socket in the kitchen. Wifi is only available at the reception area. No-one came into clean whilst we were there. There is a tiny Kitchen in the porch cramped and basic but we managed to cook most nights a step up from camping but thats about it. Overall though, we got quite fond of our little holiday home it was very private as we were ground floor and came down steps into the property - each home was surrounded by high hedges, we had a little patio out front to sit and eat, and a small, raised grassy section to feed the local cats (surprisingly healthy for strays - but very very timid) On-site Facilities There is a sort of club-house building by the pool with laundry facilities, a little shop, restaurant and bar. Unfortunately the season seems to end in September, and the restaurant was only open the first Sat night we were there. The small shop (selling basics like tinned food and pasta) also closed shortly after. The place was pretty deserted there were other guests (not English), but I think they used the place as a base to sleep and were out all day every day. We only ever saw 4 or 5 people at the pool. There was a lifeguard at all times, and a guy who would serve drinks from the bar if you could find him! There are also large tennis courts and a childrens playground all deserted by this time of year. Luckily the hotel ran a shuttle bus every 20 mins or so, down to the town and beach from about 10 in the morning to 7pm at night. It stops outside a local supermarket so we stocked up on a regular basis. Beach area Sperlonga is quite an up-market Italian resort so dont expect to find any bargains in the town area restaurants are not cheap, and the beaches (blue flag) are mostly private costing approx. 20 euros for sunbeds. The hotel bus goes to two beach areas the main (new) town, and the hotel beach which is a little out of town near the Tiberius Grotto a museum and archaeological site. The second is by far the more picturesque area although we were shocked to be asked for 20 euros even for the hotel beach!!! There is a free area however near the cave, but no sun beds. We refused to pay 20 euros for sun beds especially as there was not even a discount for hotel guests totally outrageous in my view! Old town Sperlonga old town is beautiful perched on top of a cliff, winding cobblestoned streets and alleyways full of art shops and restaurants all very expensive. Weekend evenings there were free concerts in the main square. Its about 15 min walk downhill from the hotel do-able for an evening meal, although we found prices a bit steep, so only did it a couple of times. All in all we enjoyed our stay we managed trips to Rome and Naples (both about an hour by train from the station but dont forget to add on the bus journey and associated restrictions), scenery was amazing, but its not the friendliest of places the hotel was cheap and cheerful though it could have been a lot better with a tiny bit more effort (eg. proper signage, toilet paper and mop in bath-rooms, a shop that stays open whilst there are guests in the place!). Would we return? Probably not.

    Great view, very poor service

My boyfriend and I came here on holidays, from Rimini where we were on holidays too. So after 500km of driving, we arrive, check in with a very kind man, he explains us where is the pool etc, gives us the keys and a pack of sheets and towels. So we take the car and go to our appartement, open it very easily as it was not closed and discover an old and very green space, we go around and discover that there is absolutely no facilities, no salt or even olive oil or piece of paper napkins, every single wardrobe, cupboard, drawers of the whole house smell moldy and like they were closed for more than a year. We look at the room, two single poor beds in the middle of the room, I can understand for children but for a couple ? Which one will stay in the whole of the middle to hug to other ? Ah mystery. In addition we had to do our beds ourselves with the sheets we were given upon arrival. We then go to the bathroom, and no toilet paper, not even a little soap for the hands, completely nothing. Also, we try to connect to the wifi, having some work to do, no wifi, only in the reception. In 2019, this doesnt happen anywhere anymore. We realized then that after 500km of driving we would have to do some really basic shopping except that it was already 8:00pm and everything was closing in 30 min so we had to rush, went to buy what we needed: soap, shampoo, water, toilet paper, salt, and things to eat for the night. So one would cook, the other one would take his shower but guess what? After waiting for 30 minutes to dare having some hot water, nothing. We told eachother lets eat and try a bit later, it might be that the people upstairs are taking their shower and the hot water will come back later. So after taking some rest, eating and speaking, the shower time has come. We try again the hot water. Not working. So we call the reception to tell them knowing that they told us when we arrive that we could call at anytime for anything, which is logical for a hotel tell him that the hot water doesnt work and the magical answer was: we cannot do anything, someone will come tomorrow. Good night. And hangs up. So i took the phone, called them back and told him that we cannot do anything was not an answer that we could give to a guest knowing in addition that there was no wifi, soaps, toilet paper, salt, double bed, good smelling blankets already but hot water I think is the basics of the basics so that we required hot water without any kind of discussion. He finally offered to change appartement, so we had to take the car, go down to the reception and take the keys with new blankets that were not moldy, transferred everything to the new appartement that had hot water but that was the same empty/smelling/single beds appartement. The next day, we gave back the keys of the old appartement and a woman at the reception jumped on us saying there is something you have to explain to me. Shocked, we asked her what and she said why didnt you call before for the hot water ? You know, we already gave you an appartement with views on the sea and not on the garden like you were supposed to have (well all the appartements have view on the sea, not a single one has a view on the garden but well..) If it was me yesterday and not my colleague, I would have never made you change of appartement so youre really lucky So we kindly explained to her everything that we were thinking and she was worst and worst in her way of speaking. Its for sure not a residence where we will go back, in the meantime, Sperlonga is a very nice little town, perfect for couples and the sea is beautifully transparent and clean. Lea & Daniele

    Very good value, lovely resort

Me and my teenagerboys of 17 and 18 were there for seven wonderful days. We flew to Rome and there we took the train to Sperlonga. And from the trainstation we got taxi to the Residence Costa di Kair ed Din. We stayed in one of the upper appartements with a big balcony, fantastic seaview. It was very basic equipped, but so convenient for us. Very clean, and towels, sheets nice and fresh. The whole area was beautiful and well taken care of. All people who worked there were very nice and helpful. We really appreciated the pool because it was so clean water, and it was in the wi-fi zone! I also used the washermachine twice, in the common area, very handy. We walked along the road down to city, 15 min. and sometimes also back up, but it was quite hard in the heat of the sun. So mostly we got picked up by the minibus that the Residence had for free. Very good, because we didnt have a car on our own scince we got there by train. So we could shop at the supermercato and got picked up right outside, fantastic! We used the public beaches, clean, calm and fantastic blue water! We went on a boattrip along the coast, really appreciated it! Sperlonga is a "pearl". We had that relaxed vacation that we expecteded, can really reccommend it. We finished our vacation in Rome there days before coming home. Perfect combination.
