  Sufficient

  I did a quick trip to New Plymouth from Auckland for one night. The host was very friendly and helpful. I arrived at 1.30pm and the room was still being cleaned and he offered to upgrade me to another room at no extra cost. However I only had to wait 10 minutes so I declined the upgrade. The room was around the back and very quiet. It was reasonably priced. There was no cook top, just a microwave, so I wouldn't want to stay more a night or two with no means of cooking. The room was tidy, clean but outdated and desperately in need of a makeover as is the whole motel. So all in all, it was sufficient.

  Friends time out

  This was a very tidy, basic motel, which was reasonably priced. A very helpful, pleasant manager, and any request was promptly answered. Would go back anytime. It was a great place to use as a base point for visiting the Taranaki.

  Disappointed

  Our room was spacious and bright. Linen and towels were clean and in good condition. The hosts were absolutely lovely and kind. The wi fi was good. But I won't stay here again. The room was dated and worn which wasn't a problem (formica is sure to have a revival right?) but unfortunately was so unclean I had to clean the room myself and ended leaving early as I couldn't justify paying to stay in such an environment. Filthy! The overflowing smelly rubbish bins outside didn't endear either with rubbish strewn across the ground to the entrance to our block. The motel was full so I couldn't ask to change rooms. The locks on the doors were so flimsy I put a heavy chair against the door at night. Good location - close to city/supermarket/Pukekura Park etc. Reviews on other sites seem better so hope my experience is an isolated one.

  Festival of Lights

  Stayed 3 nights to see the Festival of Lights. Motel was basic but tidy & clean with comfortable beds. Hosts were accommodating with our late arrival. Good value for the money. Fans for the bedrooms would be a nice addition.

  Americarna

  Stayed 2 nights to see the cars at Americarna. The manager was very helpful as this was a last minute booking due to issues with another motel. The 2 bedroom unit was spacious and tidy. Linen & towels were good quality. It was a handy location to Pukekura Park, the city and seeing the sights around Taranaki. Good value for money. We have rebooked for 6 nights for Americarna 2022.
