Modest, but excellent & clean. Friendly staff!

This is a small, family-run hotel that's just a couple of u-bahn stops away from the Frankfurt Convention Center. It's an old building, but the rooms are clean. The hosts are very accommodating, and I found the room to be comfortable. This is not a luxury hotel it's just a nice bed, clean bathroom, good breakfast, with pleasant staff at a good price.

Over priced for a basic hotel

Stayed here on a business trip, but wasnt impressed. I felt this hotel was overpriced for what it was (very basic) - price is probably driven because it is close to the Messe. Breakfast was included, but very limited options on offer. They didnt seem particularly forthcoming with the breakfast, salami slices put on your plate one by one, and you have to ask for an extra bread roll. There isn't much nearby by way of getting something to eat or drink, and all the hotel could offer was one type of beer. I chose this hotel as I thought it would be useful to be close to the Messe, but given that the transport system in Frankfurt is so good, you could stay pretty much anywhere - I wont be staying here again.

    Annoying/Mix ups.

We were originally suppose to be staying at this hotels sister hotel (Hotel Garni) a block away, however there were maintenance issues so the hotel transferred us to Hotel Garni Corona. The new staff appeared quite friendly at first. However, this hotel was blatantly advertising free breakfast with their stay.... and seeing as it was listed as the same price as we initially paid at hotel Garni we figured our breakfast would be included too... why not?! UNFORTUNATELY, once we had eaten the breakfast (which was not great at all... a few pieces of ham with some bread) we were chased down by hotel staff demanding us for extra money which we were able to haggle down to 10 euros.... I wouldn't have minded ALL the other hassle up until then.... but that REALLY upset my partner and I.... the lady who dealt with us was extremely rude and unwelcoming. We felt scammed and cheated at the end of all this hassle... I would not want to stay here again.

You'll love it or hate it!

I guess the mixed reviews about breakfast reflect what people expect from a hotel. If you want a massive, cooked breakfast buffet, then Hotel Corona Garni is not for you, but the breakfast they do serve is plentiful. Unlike the experience of another reviewer, there was a big basket full of different sorts of bread and rolls on each table, with lots of different things to put on it (jam, honey, cheese, choc spread..........). There were cheese and salami slices (and yes, it's served one slice at a time, but there is no problem in asking for more), a hard-boiled egg, plentiful tea and coffee, and good orange juice. I was there with 3 friends, and the lovely waitress remembered our preferences after the first morning. 'Modest' is a good description of the hotel. Everything that can be cleaned is spotless, and the room I stayed in had a comfortable bed and functional shower. We all loved this hotel - the overall feeling of the decor is that you are staying with a great-aunt, in the 1970s (and I mean that in a good way!). I love modern, big hotels too, but this was a nice change: the TV reception was dreadful; it would have been nice to have tea- and coffee-making facilities in my room; the towels could be fluffier and bigger; and there are no services other than breakfast. All that said, the Corona Garni's eccentricities (including hand-writing the bill) and the charming woman who is in charge more than made up for these discrepancies.

    Overpriced

Stayed here whilst attending trade show at Messe. room was exceptionally basic. Towels were very small, TV signal atrocious, WiFI virtually non existent, bed uncomfortable, breakfast fine if you like only bread. Way below even a UK Travelodge level - would not recommend.
