  One night stay

  Staff were very attentive and helpful. The rooms are not the biggest but the aircon was good, the shower was hot and the food was edible. I nice place to rest before departure. I was even allowed to over stay my booking for a few hours until my flight.

  Amazingly Friendly Staff, Great Service

  For the friendly staff and service alone IMHO Coral Queen Inn deserves a 5 Star even if it is not a 5 Star Resort. Even though our travel plans changed on short notice we were still promptly met at the airport. At check-in we were offered an adapter although we did not ask for one.This is service and thoughfulness that should be recognized. Rooms are comfortable and clean with an "all in one bathroom" that has a nice hot shower. A small fridge is included in the room and the A/C along with the Wi-FI works great. For about US$50 per night including breakfast (toast, egg, hot dogs, tea, juice and water)..... What a bargain!

  Lovely guest house

  We arrived at Male airport and caught the local Hulhumale bus to the Coral Queen inn. There are no cabs, only private cars and buses allowed at the airport, so if you haven't organised a private transfer, the local bus is cheap. They take the local currency but accept US $. The Coral Queen Inn was very easy to find. The young men who worked here were so lovely. They were very friendly and so eager to do anything for us. Their english wasnt great, but in fairness, neither was our Maldivian! They took our suitcases up a beautifully polished narrow wooden,winding staircase and proudly presented our room to us - the deluxe balcony suite! It was a very small room, which just fitted the bed, a table, a small wardrobe, and luggage rack in it. It had a small balcony overlooking the street. The bathroom was small ( the shower was over the toilet), but it was all we needed for one night. We had a swim at the beach, but hadn't done our homework because they are strictly muslim and we shouldn't have swum in our bathers. We quickly realised and covered up with respect. The city is very third world. Whilst the beach was clean, the streets were full of rubbish. There was lots of construction happening and we got the feeling this place was on the brink of a tourism boom, which will be a shame on many levels. But if it creates work for locals that's great. Just as long as their culture is respected. We ate dinner from a beachfront BBQ cafe and it was delicious. Just the two of us at a table on the beach watching the sun set. We had an early flight the next day, so the young guys got up in the dark, opened up the dining room for us and cooked eggs, sausages, toast, jam and tea. It cost us $68 AU for our stay here including breakfast and was worth every cent. We'd love to return one day. Thank you for having us!

  Okay type hotel, good service & the best staff

  In my opinion , Coral Queen inn is ideal as a transit hotel. If youre there for business, this place is okayish for bed and breakfast. But for leisure , its a no no! Its just a 20 minutes drive from airport and the hotel is just 20 seconds away from the beach! Thats a plus point. You can catch awesome sunsets and sunrises! The hotel is not so glamorous. Its basic. Rooms are small, bathrooms are smaller. The staff is very friendly and do their best to provide a good service even though theyre not so good in English. And then again we were not good in Dhivehi too. But still, they give a good service. One downside we came across was having to eat their English breakfast 5 days in a row! it tasted yummy with two eggs, two sausages, two roasts, Jan & orange juice. But when we reached the fifth day, it was like a torture for us to eat the same meal since we had no other option! The hotel has been booked for us in BB basis . Plus point is around the hotel there are so many nice beach restaurants nearby so you can enjoy your evening , watching sun goes down with the breeze from the sea!

  You could probably do worse for the money, but keep your expectations in check.

  The Coral Queen isn't bad by any means, it's just not that great. The rooms are basic, a bit dated and small; however, they have an awesome ceiling fan/AC combo that keeps the rooms liveable in the hot and humid climate of the Maldives. The rooms offer free wifi which works quite well for the Maldives and a really nice TV package with movie channels. The second floor smells of smoke a bit, even though to my knowledge smoking is not allowed. The hotel is a stone's throw from the beach which is beautiful but unfortunately clad in washed up rubbish. The breakfast is basic and served in a dimly lit kitchen. The staff is friendly and helpful.
