Relaxation in the JungleWhere to start... this place was stunning. We spend 1/2 our trip on the beach and the other 1/2 here. The resort was incredible and the staff was even more amazing. Sitting by the pool and listening to the sounds of the jungle was my favorite part. At night we relaxed on our back porch and listened to the howler monkeys, sipping local beers was so relaxing. We ventured into Punta Gorda to experience some local culture. The food at Copal Tree was incredible. The custom drinks were amazing too but overpriced for our budget. But still worth it. We canoed down the river for a long time, saw amazing things. So quiet and peaceful. For my fitness lovers, they have an Assault Runner!!! Like how in the world did it get there but I enjoyed working out with the tropical views.

The bestSpent three days there in the fall of 2019. My wife and I can't say enough about the quality of everything - the facility, the surroundings, the food, the staff - all top notch. We were there for fly fishing for permit during the day. Coming back to Copal Tree after being on the water was to enter a jungle paradise - a dip in the pool, a quick nap in our air conditioned room, a cocktail on the deck, a superb dinner chosen from a diverse menu, followed by my cigar and single malt out on the deck and then back to the room for a wonderful deep sleep. Couldn't be any better!

Absolutely incredible jungle tropical elopement/honeymoon with top notch food and serviceWe talk and dream about Copal probably once a week or so. It was truly such a dream experience during this less than ideal year of 2020. We cannot say enough about the quality of the rooms, service, food, beverages, tour guides, activities, and elopement services. We eloped and booked the honeymoon package along with activities pretty much every day. Mark planned an amazing trip for us and made sure we were taken care of at every step of the way. Millie supported the planning as well. See the bottom of this review for text specifically for the incredible wedding services of Lizbeth and her team! We were pretty tired from the trip, waiting for the necessary covid test checks and wearing masks and face shields all day. Waluco welcomed us graciously and made sure we received refreshing drinks immediately and started food while we went to our room to shower. I forgot our bartender's name but he was also incredible that first night. The staff then changed over for the next week but we are extremely grateful to Waluco and the bartender for starting our week off right. We chose to stay in the king suite instead of the canopy suite as we planned a wealth of activities and wouldn't be spending too much time in the room. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the shower room is beautiful with a window overlooking the jungle. There's air conditioning and wifi in the rooms. The screened in porch was a delight to sit in a hammock and read, listening to the noises of the jungle (hello howler monkeys!) There's also delicious coffee + chemex in the room. The drinks were INCREDIBLE. Never have we consumed so much liquor and felt great every day. Duckie the bartender took such great care of us; adjusting the drinks to our tastes (less sweet please, but plenty of alcohol!). The drinks are full of herbs and the Copalli organic rum. So tasty. Duckie was also great company. We'd be remiss if we didn't comment on the food- it was incredible. Most everything is from the organic farm at copal or otherwise specifically chosen, and you can really feel it. You're eating plenty of vegetables, fruit, fresh fish/meat/poultry/lobster. We loved our coffee, chocolate, and mixology classes. We learned so much! Marlene at the front desk was also incredible company. Vincent was the best tour guide; we never would have jumped off the ledge into the river if he hadn't done it first! He also had plenty of stories and knowledge to share on our trip to Nim Li Punit. George was also incredible- taking us out on a sunset cruise where we had so much fun that I booked us a river fishing trip the morning we were supposed to leave so we could go once more. He's pretty amazing at bird watching, fish spotting, and making bird calls. Copal really made us feel like home, and they all cheered us on on our elopement day. Seriously, the service was awesome. They also made sure we had a wedding-appropriate meal: lobster and steak! We also felt incredible safe covid wise- distance measures + masks were taken, and each room is its own little cabin of sorts so no shared air. We are already planning our trip back. Thank you to everyone, Duckie, Marlene, Vincent, George, Lizbeth, and all of the staff behind the scenes that made our trip a dream come true. -------------- Wedding specific review: I highly recommend Lizbeth and Copal Tree Lodge for a tropical wedding. Liz made our tropical dream elopement come true. She coordinated everything for us from afar, navigating timing difficulties due to covid and customizing the elopement package for our needs. She coordinated a photographer (Ben at esoteric vision!) for us as well, which helped remove so much stress for us. She also arranged for gorgeous tropical flowers On our arch, my bouquet, my husbands boutonnière, and an accessory for my hair. Due to covid we didnt want to have any guests, and they worked with us to livestream the ceremony at a somewhat odd hour, and she coordinated for our photographer to take ceremony photos and stay for a couples session. We could not have asked for better service. It took so much stress off of us to have her arrange everything, and she arranged for everything we asked for and more. She even found the bird of paradise variety we had requested that was not as local as a different bird of paradise variety. I asked for the hair accessory two weeks before the wedding and I didnt really know what I wanted, and she worked with the florist for something that was absolutely perfect and amazing. She had Bobby pins and helped me secure it the day of as well, which was a HUGE help for me as Im not great at hair or makeup. She made us feel relaxed, joyful, and taken care of on our wedding day- exactly what we needed. It actually rained pretty much just during our ceremony and everyone handled it with such grace, especially our officiant whose back got pretty wet! I didnt care too much about the rain, and seeing them act like nothing was wrong just added to my joy for the day. We loved being able to go back to our rooms, change, and head to the bar for the amazing mixed drinks made from all the organic ingredients on the farm. We LOVED our wedding at Copal and the service from Lizbeth, Ben, Marlene, and the rest of team!

Best Cocktails in the Carribean Heaven by TimWe were treated by Tim the 7-star bar tender and cocktail master at Copal Tree Lodge. He would combine the best of what nature offers in terms of flavours and smells with the Copalli Rhums. We'll be back soon.

Fascinating Jungle ExperienceMy girlfriend and I stayed in one of the Canopy suites at the end of February (start of the dry season). We had a truly amazing time full of wonderful new experiences. The view from the top of the hill is breathtaking. We had an awesome time horseback riding with our guide Alvero who was incredibly kind. Later that day, we went on a tour through the on-site distillery hosted by Waluco who was very knowledgeable and super friendly. The drinks served by Tim were one of a kind. The man is very talented and very friendly. We are both vegan, but this was no issue for the chefs. We received 3.5 meals a day and they were all highly satisfying with most ingredients sourced from the on-site farm. We later enjoyed a guided hike around the estate and through the jungle which was incredibly fascinating (my favorite was the aroma of the vanilla vines they grow). Our last excursion was kayaking on the Rio Grande which was remarkable. There is plenty to do here and lots to enjoy all made better by the incredibly friendly and passionate staff.
