  A place Ill remember

  Patricia is the perfect host and what a beautiful characterful home she opens up to her guests. The breakfast can not be beaten. Axbridge village is well worth a visit, we had a lovely meal in the Lambs Inn, a few minutes walk away. My only regret was not to have had time to spend in Patricias beautiful garden.   Great location and fantastic host

  We stayed here for two nights for a weekend break. Our room was spacious , comfortable and we had great views from our room. Patricia was a supurb host and nothing was too much trouble for her, we were made to feel welcome and at home. Breakfast was excellent and I cannot recomend Compton house enough.

  Beautiful historic house with perfect service

  We spent a great time at Compton House. Our host Patricia gave us a very warm welcome and during our whole stay she let us feel very comfortable and took care of our every wish or need. We especially enjoyed the historic ambiance of the house and rooms which are all individually decorated and each has its own character. Everything was clean and in good condition. Breakfast was exceptional with homemade and regional products which we enjoyed very much. The garden was pretty and we were sorry that we could not make use of it due to bad weather.   Historic heaven

  Wonderful character property, lavishly furnished with lots of grand antique fixtures and fittings. Excellent, friendly, host who cooks immense, sumptuous breakfasts and keeps a roaring log fire ablaze in the huge residents' lounge. A real taste of luxury from a bygone era...

  An historic treasure with the perfect host

  Compton House is a true historic treasure in a great location and is owned and managed by a wonderfully caring and friendly host. Once a family home, Patricia has created a welcoming and very special place to stay, comfortable, romantic and one to always remember. Our room, looking as if from a period drama, was wood panelled and decorated with impressive plaster mouldings. Tapestries on the walls, a magnificent and extra large four poster bed and a roll-top bath, beautiful country views overlooking the well kept garden. Many of the original features remain in the house including the service bells that once summoned the maid! Due to the need for separation between guests for COVID safety, we were also treated to the privilege of using the spacious and comfortable lounge, this too a period delight filled with beautiful furniture and antique pieces. Breakfast included local produce, was well prepared and presented; we looked forward to it and enjoyed our morning chat with our lovely host Patricia. After five nights we were very sad to leave for the next stage of our holiday but we will return. The attention to detail and the enormous care given by Patricia to the running of this hotel is what really makes the difference, shes clearly proud of her house and her business and so she should be. Excellent!
