  Clean and modern, perfect location, great staff, free breakfast

  This hotel is less than a minute walk from Shin Yamaguchi station, which is amazing. The staff speak a little English, just the basics for checking in and hotel services; they were extremely caring and attentive. We missed our first night due to not making our train, and they actually refunded us and gave us a great deal on the remaining nights. The rooms are very small, but if you're like me you just want a clean and modern place to sleep for a good price, and this hotel is perfect for that. Breakfast was excellent! There was even an espresso machine, fresh berries, fruit, yogurt, and oats to compliment both Japanese and western choices. After checkout, they even stored our luggage for us until we were ready to leave Yamaguchi later that day. I would absolutely stay here again.

  Nice hotel but so small, so cramped.......

  We chose to stay in Shin Yamaguchi instead of Yamaguchi because we took the Shinkansen bullet train which runs directly only to here. The hotel is just across the very nice & new JR station. Exit North gate, go down escalator & you can see hotel. Pros 1. Modern nice hotel 2. Excellent location 3. Friendly warm staff Cons 1. Room is terribly small. & cramped. Just one big luggage takes up a big area of available space. Hardly any walking space- one needs to give way for other to cross. Feels cooped up, like living in a pigeon hole. 2. Double Bed is small for 2 persons & pillow is so thin - can't sleep well. 3. Staff don't speak English. One or two do try their best to understand a little but can't communicate. 4. Breakfast very limited but adequate for filling the stomach. It's not really free though as I believed it is already added into the rates as rates here are on the high side for this type of hotel class. 5. Vicinity around the hotel is very quiet at night. A dead town at night. No life. Shops closed very early around 5pm onwards as darkness falls in. Limited few dining options. Yamaguchi station is a better place to stay if one don't mind the inconvenience of taking another train, ( if taking Shinkansen to this place) which is about half hour away (about 7 stops). Personally, my feel is that the most important part of a hotel is the room. If one is cooped up & feel so stressed up in such a cramped room & cannot sleep well, then no point staying in this hotel even if other aspects are fine. I had reservations about booking this hotel after looking at review pictures but can't find a better hotel here that is near the station. But it is worse than expected.

  Surprisingly good

  Have stayed at Comfort Hotel twice - once in 2018 and once in 2019, both during the month of March. Both times we booked a double bed room. The location is very convenient as it is right next to the Shin Yamaguchi station, and is surrounded by a few small eateries and a 711. The rooms are small as expected, and are not so suitable for travellers with large luggages. However, it is clean and tidy, with a decent air conditioning/heating system, and the bed is pretty comfortable. One downside is that the bed is flushed to the side of room where the window is, and this makes one side of the bed permanently colder than the other during the colder months. The hotel staff are friendly and helpful, and the breakfast spread is simple but tasty. I usually look forward the to the breakfast during my stay. During my 2 trips, we've had some combination of yogurt, onigiri, fried rice, miso soup, onion soup, sausages, scrambled eggs, fried chicken, pastry, and/or fruits. The free wifi is amazing.

  Hotel well sitauted at North exit of station

  Comfort Hotel Yamaguchi is convenient for someone who likes to stay close to the Shin Yamaguchi station to catch shinkansen or the local trains. It is just outside the North exit, and has plenty of eating places around it. The hotel is a typical business hotel in that it is very compact. But it is also more than typical, with modern room that is clean, well lighted and provides good service. The wifi is free and strong. Te hotel provides simple breakfast in buffet style. I always have good impressions of comfort hotels, and this one did not disappoint at all.

  A hotel that serves its purpose

  We (a couple) stayed at this hotel last year and this year, as we were in Yamaguchi to visit a friend. It is only two minutes leisurely walk from Shin-Yamaguchi (Shinkansen) Station to the hotel, which makes it extremely convenient and well-situated. If you have a lot of luggage, a large entourage, and want luxury and style, go somewhere else. If you travel relatively light, go for convenience and utility, and are not staying too long in Yamaguchi, this will be good for you. The rooms are small, predictably so. Barely enough space for luggage on the floor. Be sure to shut the shower curtain while showering, or youll get the entire toilet wet. If you are above 1.85 metres in height, showering while standing up straight will be a problem. The rooms are very clean and well-maintained, again, predictably so. These are not complaints, just observations. The complimentary breakfast is a good mix of Western and Japanese cuisine which will give you a good start to the day. There is a tray return corner, so please return your trays and separate your waste accordingly. There is a 7-Eleven next door for all your needs. Just around the corner is a yakitori place which serves delicious yakitori, so you might want to consider it for dinners. The neighbourhood is safe and quiet. The wifi is very good. This cannot be understated.
