    Comfortable stay

Staff are very helpful and friendly and the hotel is coping well with the Covid restrictions. Excellent dinners served in the elegant restaurant. No cooked breakfast available but Continental was adequate.

    Business trip

staff are very friendly and service is very good. The restaurant food is of a good standard and the rooms are clean and well maintained. The only draw back is the TV reception in some rooms is a littler erratic and the TC does freeze for periods of time.

    Fantastic wedding.

Just outstanding. Here for a Covid wedding and the organisation was outstanding. Wonderful, caring and helpful staff and the best wedding food I have ever had. The coq au vin and meringue were restaurant quality. Equally, the sandwiches and chips in the evening were varied and fresh. A beautiful setting and spotlessly clean. We will return for a meal. Most highly recommended.

Amazing service but awful food and hotel

I stayed at Coed y Mwstwr on 5.12.20 for a wedding and I must say for £200 for the night was ridiculous. The first thing that struck me at the hotel was when we were walking to our rooms and the smell was disgusting. It smelt like old fat in the chip pan. Coming out of the lift, there was a table with hand sanitizer and over the table was the sanitizer which people mustve dropped some sanitizer but we thought thats nothing until the next morning it was still there dried up until we left at 2pm. As we entered our room it was freezing. The room had nice interior but not for the price paid. As I went to use the toilet I spotted a spider crawling across the floor. As I then used the shower I looked up to grab the shower head and a big spider was in the corner. Later that evening I got into bed and a little baby spider crawled over my hand and the next morning I spotted cob webs and one with another spider. I know this cannot be helped, however some cobwebs were obvious. Because I did not use my shower after spotting the spider, I went next door to use my mothers shower and I was greeted by the chip pan smell once again. The groom disclosed to us that his robe in the house he was in was dirty and looked worn. As we were at the hotel for a family members wedding, youd expect they would pull all the stops out for the special day. The poor bride was looking forward to stay in this one particular room she had booked nearly 2 years ago to find out that it was double booked. She was then placed in a dark room and offered another room for the bridal party to get ready in. In the room we were offered to get ready it was lovely and light, however as I went to use the bathroom it was a dead fly cemetery. The food was awful. The night before the wedding we had a 3 course dinner. To start garlic mushrooms which were okay. I then had a chicken burger which was a dry chicken breast in brioche buns. That cost £15 and I wouldve much preferred the McChicken Sandwich from McDonalds for much cheaper and tastier. Me and my sister then decided to share desserts. I had strawberries and cream and my sister had brownie and ice cream. The brownie and ice cream were lovely and so were the strawberries and cream but the glass the strawberries came in and a smell to it. I asked my mother how her food was and she said the smell that was in the hotel halls and her room is what her food tasted like. For x4 diet cokes, x1 soda water and lime, a chicken burger and chips, fish and chips and a fatty steak and chips it came to £99 and was definitely not even worth the price. We couldve had the exact same in Wetherspoons for much less and we probably wouldve enjoyed it more. The room we were put in to eat was also freezing and we were eating with our coats on. Breakfast was included in the price of the room and it was awful! I had a full welsh breakfast (full is a lie). The toast was not even toast, it was bread and freezing! I had a taste of most things on my plate - the sausage, hash brown, scrambled egg, mushroom and bacon. I cannot tell you how much I love and enjoy a breakfast but I was gutted when I did not see the beans. I gave away the massive dry tomato on my plate to a member of my family. I only had a small cut of everything on my plate and that was it. The bacon was thick and greasy, the sausage was oily, the hash brown was cold and the mushroom was like rubber! I wish I could input the video of my sister hitting the mushroom so you could hear the solidness and see it bounce. I did enjoy the orange juice and my mother said that the coffee was lovely. I do feel bad for the bride and groom wasting their money on the day as even in the wedding the food was horrible. As I didnt like the look on the ham and pea soup I did not eat it but my mother said it was bland! I and my grandmother fish and chips and it the chips were hard and fish was okay. However we did enjoy the Crème brûlée. Although we did have a bad experience with the hotel, the service was excellent! The waiter who served us on the evening of the 5th was amazing. We were looked after and nothing was a bother. A male member of the cleaning staff who was on 6.12.20 was lovely. However we were taken back by a member of staff who was looking after the wedding. During breakfast she was talking us through the day and arrangements with the bride. One of the bridesmaids asked if it would be okay if she left her belongings in the room until she left after the wedding and the woman said that its no problem. However, as me and my sisters were bridesmaids too, shortly after she answered the other bridesmaid, my mother asked if we could do the same and she was hesitant to let us leave our belongings, which made us feel unwanted but she did let us do that but by the hesitation and body language it was evident she did not want us to. As we spent so much money for 1 night, I expected the 4 star treatment that was described to us on the website. This is more like a 3 star hotel not 4 and is definitely not worth the stupid prices. I would rate it a 2, if it wasnt the amazing service that was provided.
