  A lovely getaway place in the mountains outside Tzaneen

  The Coach House Hotel & Spa is a fairly old establishment, but you'll have a great time staying there. A group of four of us on motorbikes stayed there for two nights over a weekend in November 2019 and we all really enjoyed it. Large rooms, lovely pool, bar and restaurant. The included breakfasts were excellent and the suppers on both nights were great. The staff were friendly and helpful. The rates offer good value for money. Our only complaint is that the bathrooms are quite old and could do with a revamp. But that did not detract from a very enjoyable weekend stay.

  Beautiful hotel and great scenery

  Often pictures online differ from reality. Not in the case of Coach House Hotel & Spa in the hills near Tzaneen. The scenery, especially from the pool and restaurant, is breathtaking. Rooms are more like small appartments. Breakfast and dinner in the restaurant is good. We had a very good massage in the Spa. Staff is very friendly but could not inform us about things to do in the Tzaneen region.

  Disappointed

  We expected the best in the area but was totally disappointed. We booked in at 14h00. Our Room, Nr 20, had a carpet in and it looked like it needed replacement 3 years ago. There was a small piece of paper with a handwritten note addressed to my wife and saying "enjoy your anniversary" What about me? It was however OUR anniversary. The room had a bar fridge, but it was empty. While taking an afternoon nap, we were awakened by a knock on the door. The lady (from housekeeping I guess) apologised and said she was actually looking for Nr 19. After that, still while trying to take an afternoon nap, garden people were working just outside our room (Saturday afternoon) and we couldn't sleep again. The lack of maintenance all over the property were evident. From paving to paint to unpolished brass items. Our view was obstructed by an un-maintained outbuilding. Loud music from the adjacent settlement sounded like it was 100m away from us. It was disturbing and we struggled to sleep. Our greatest concern was the patio door. It was clear there had been at least one break in as an extra poorly installed barrel bolt were added. We felt totally UNSAFE and left before sunset. So much for our 25 year anniversary!!!

  our fifth stop on our South Africa adventure

  A warm welcome greets you from the staff who work in every department of the extrordinary hotel. It is set in beautiful grounds, overlooking stunning scenery of the mountains. The history and how the hotel came about was facinating to learn whilst we stayed there. A totally chilled out enviorment. pool area to sit in both inside and out. Our room was comfortable but very dated. It was however nice to have a bath. There was a fridge and also amenities to make hot drinks, which were replenished daily. Our room was cleaned daily. The resturant produced food to a very high standard both at breakfast and dinner.

  Not Like It Was..

  Weve stayed here previously and it seems to have lost some of its charm. The surroundings are stunning and rooms are still beautiful if not a bit tired. On previous trips we were greeted by drinks at reception, tea and coffee served to the room and even having your bed turned down, none of that now. The food was okay but not amazing. Its such a shame because it used to be such a lovely place to stay.
