TRULY RELAXING EXPERIENCEIf you want a truly relaxing holiday away from the main tourist areas, this definitely fits the criteria. We have just returned from Mar Menor where we had the beach and the Lagoon to ourselves most of the day. The resort itself does need some exterior renovation which I believe is planned. The interior has been refurbished to a good standard. Bus stops directly outside apartments which takes you all along La Manga strip for one euro. There is a shop which is difficult to find but it does stock everything you need. There were three or four restaurants/bars within walking distance and a bar only that were open. The main tourism season starts 1st May and there were activities going on which confirmed they were preparing for more visitors. There is some building work in the area but we only heard it when we were on the beach on the Lagoon side of the resort. If we could have been bothered to walk a little way we would not have heard this either. The waters of the Lagoon were shallow, beautifully clean and clear and fairly warm for April. The weather was in the high 20`s. There was a strong breeze on the first two days which I believe is unusual, but once this died down it was very hot. My only critisism was that we arrived late Saturday evening and the shop was closed. No provisions until morning, however the onsite restaurant sold us some bottled water and was open for breakfast the next morning while we found the shop and bus.

Very quiet, complex needs some TLC, lovely pool, nice restaurants, lovely area.We visited Club Calida after exchanging with Dialanexchange, the area was very very quiet, few appartments where occupied, we where told that the spanish use this area as there holiday destination in the summer and there holiday season had finished. Club Calida is at the very end of the Mar Menor and you NEED A CAR, there is a bus that runs in the summer to the airport but other wise if you do not rent a car it is very expensive getting a taxi. Whilst we where there a family of 5 had paid £130.00 for 2 taxi,s to get to there appartment. There is a bus that runs every hour up until 10pm up and down the Mar Menor. There where few bars and restaurants open in the area in the time we where there, we did find 2 very nice restaurants and a good Irish bar for a game of darts and pool. The complex has a lovely pool, but there where no sunbeds, there is some updating required and a lick of paint would not go amiss. We where in appartment 132 which looked out onto the road, it was nice and clean but a little basic, but we where comfortable. The area is lovely and there are some lovely beaches, we also had very good weather which makes any holiday.

Don't bother until the apartments and exteriors are upgradedOur views are much the same as the others as nothing has been done to spruce up the place since the 2008 review. The interior needs a lot of TLC and the exterior of the block we were in near the road was appalling. The mattresses were like boards even though they looked new. It's a shame about the apartrment because the Mar Menor is warm and clean, the beaches are lovely and the weather was very hot. We came home yesterday after two beautiful sunny weeks (28-30 deg C most days). The evenings were warm and the sunsets wonderful. On the plus side the gardens and the two pools are lovely - not heated but OK when we were there but might be cold earlier in the season. No sunbeds but we carried our patio chairs round to the poolside or relaxed on our towels. The resort was too remote for us as we had to drive 18km to get back on the mainland every time we wanted to visit another area. Not much open during our stay and then everything nearby shut up shop on 30th September, including the lovely ice cream parlour/bakery 50 yards away. There was no restaurant or shop on site for basic provisions, which was disappointing, and the nearest supermarket was a ca. 10 minute drive away. I hope Dial-an-Exchange reads these reviews and takes note!

Very fun, comfortable spacious unit with nice groundsWe enjoyed the pool area and also dining in the restaurant on the premises as we signed up for dinners there. The food and music entertainment in the restaurant was great and fun after a long day of travels around the area. We used this as our home base and traveled to Malaga, Gibraltar, Seville, Granada, Andalucía, and back to Madrid on the train for our plane home to the U.S. It was a great location and a fun experience. The local food at the restaurant was English! (Had to write about this place when I saw it, but our travel was May 2010 - not available in the dropdown dates below.)
