OK stayHard to judge based on stay during quarenteen times. Hotel was a little run down but clean. Some of that was due to the banquet center next door being closed, and not having a lot of customers in the hotel. It is outside downtown, and neighborhood was also a little run down. Concerned that you could not get in the front door without a key card. Breakfast was modified so had to tell front desk worker what you wanted and they would fetch it. Very awkward. If price is right I would give it another try.

BEWARE! COVID-19 MASK WEARING NOT ENFORCED & NOT PERSONAL BELIEF OF HOTEL STAFFWe booked online and arrived after a long drive at this seemingly charming place. There were signs posted everywhere about mask requirements During the COVID pandemic. But the woman at the reception wasnt wearing her mask over her nose. After this went on a while and it kept falling down to uncover her mouth, I told her it made us uncomfortable that she wasnt wearing her mask properly. She ignored me. I repeated myself and asked if she heard me. She said she did but that wearing a mask conflicted with her personal beliefs. I asked her whether this was consistent with hotel policy posted right in front of us. She ignored me again. I asked if it was not the policy in the state of IL to wear a mask In public places. She told me it was not a law. As we were speaking a woman walked into the lobby without a mask. I asked her if this was against hotel policy. She told me she didnt see the woman? I asked her for her name so that I could report this to the hotel and *she declined to provide her name*. She offered to return our money, which we accepted and we left to another hotel. If youd like to reduce COVID risk, skip this hotel!!

Not great attitudes by staff and no hooks in the bathroomI've stayed at $40 a night hotels and $700 a night hotels. This is the first where there were no hooks in the bathroom for you towels after you use them or clothes that you want to put on after you come out of the shower. We were there three days and had no housekeeping due to COVID so of course we used the towels again. We draped them over the sofa in the room to try them out. There was a mini fridge in the room and a microwave. Website said hot breakfast. If you're going to change that due to COVID to English muffins, danish, granola bars, coffee and orange juice you need to change that on your website. We found a fitbit and a bracelet in the sofa or our room. Took them to front desk. No thank you just "what room are you in?" Breakfast area was cordoned off with a rope and sign says "see front desk for breakfast". We walked up. The woman in there didn't say anything to us so we went to front desk. "there's someone in there!" How about her telling us that she was in there or taking that sign down? How about also telling us when we checked in that breakfast was no longer hot and we should take some kind of bag or tray to carry our items back to our room? Room was clean. Location was good driving distance to lots of things. Not really walkable to anywhere.

Short StayStayed one night. Hotel is pet friendly with $25 per night charge. Staff were wearing masks but most guests were not. Staff did not enforce made it very uncomfortable. Hotel was ok for a night but had deferred maintenance issues. Elevator was grimy and loud. Parking lot was large but seemed sketchy. It wasn't well lit. Lots of green space to walk dog.

The hotel is in a GREAT hideaway from traffic but seriously in need of modernization! Our OVERALL stay was nice. Being a frequent traveler, the hotel looks like it's shucked in the early 80's. The continental carpet is dull/horrific looking and needs to be replace throughout the entire hotel. We had a 1 level vs upstairs bedroom suite. The view of the river was nice, and each room was VERY spacious. But that's just it, it was a room that had NO pizzazz to it. It was just pure DULL! The restroom which is in bedroom was the only modern thing in the room which has a shower (no tub) and 2 face bowel sinks. IMO the price of the room should be cheaper and have NO match to other brand name hotels especially since their utilizing the word: suites. I got a chance to go to other rooms and they looked good (for sure BETTER than our suite). Housekeeping staff was NICE and most of FD staff but one of them was aggressive in tone.
