Basic HotelUnless you want a room that smells like a sewer, do not stay here. Due to the ancient bathroom, the drains were blocked with years of use. Shower flooded and the stench made me want to vomit. Had to move out to another hotel, no refund offered.

AWFUL JUST AWFULArrived here on the 19th Oct, first impression on look of hotel and surrounding area NOT GOOD... Reception area like something from a 1960 Moscow Hotel, after a long speech from the manager and requesting a credit card copy.....why very unusual, he then requested a tax up front... no settle in first.... we must have it. We went to our room that was facing a waste area, not a plant in site, the high stone balcony blocked any view, looking down we saw scrapped cars and machinery, as the previous reviewer said, the room stunk, it was a terrible start to our hols.... we went downstairs and only ever heard the manager telling people what to do.... The concrete pool area again reminded me of a 60s Moscow Hotel, sunbeds actually rusty... no cushions, pool bar rough and unkempt.... we got out of here and had a drink to try and calm down.... my wife decided she could not spend 12 nights in here and was close to tears, I mean, we are away three or four times a year to various Greek resorts and know the Greek lifestyle, but this was something else man, went back, got our cases still unopened explained to manager and he said he would refund my tax I paid....... still waiting.... never got asked can they do anything, which was fine as I just wanted to be away from this awful place, we were quoted £350, for a deal in a hotel in Kefalos, which is Ten Times nicer than Kardamena resort... we stayed at the Hermes, my God what a difference and what splendid hosts Diana , Sebastian and Nic were, The Jet2 Rep Sharon was straight on the case, organising a transfer saving us £350... what a star, no doubt the rep from Kris Mari would have done this, but hones, we could not even stay one night.... I sat and thought for a couple of days....... how can anyone give this a good review, it just doesn't add up, its awful.... I cannot also understand how Jet2 keep this on their books..... As afore mentioned we are avid traveler's and never expect more than what you pay for....... but just could not stay at this baron place at the end of the resort with broken down cars and abandoned buildings all around you.... There it is. Never want anyone to waste hard earned money on a substandard accommodation..

Last minute booking, wasnt disappointed!Stayed here 10th October for 7 nights. Check in was quick and easy, all done social distancing. Room was clean and comfortable, (with a pool view) cleaned every day. You had to request towel and linen change 24hrs in advance (not a problem) We drank and ate at pool bar a couple of time food and beer good and well priced. Barman at poolbar friendly jovial guy joking with you if you sat round pool. Nice little beach area reserved for hotel at beach about 90 seconds walk from back gates. Hotel well located for all bars and restaurants good for a base. Would we return .... if in Kos wed definitely use The Kris Mari again !

Perfect for Beach Lovers........I have stayed at the Kris Mari now a good dozen or so times over the years, however this was the first time staying here during the Covid-19 pandemic. So certain measures were in place, and there wqs differences in how certain things were done or not done, which was to be expected. We were not allowed to sit around the bar when wanting a drink, nor were you allowed to order from the bar - if you wanted a drink you had to sit outside an have your drink order taken, an drink it outside on the balcony area. At breakfast, whereby normally you would go an help yourself to a buffet styled continental breakfast, this time you had to queue, an be served individually. Also, you were not allowed to open your suitcase to take anything out of it, or to put anything in it inside the hotel downstairs foyer/bar/seating area because of the virus. The woman behind the desk in reception said that i had to take my suitcase outside if i wanted to open it, just to take 1 item out. I found this ridiculous as you can open your suitcase in your room where other people have stayed, yet you cannot open it for a few seconds in the hotel itself - i mean, i can fully understand in being cautious but this was taking it a little too far. It just seems that with every year that passes, an with every time i stay there, there is another negative to add to an ever growing list which is a shame as overall i do like staying here, hence the amount of times that i have stayed here - more than at any hotel. There is a lot of improvements that could be made to this hotel, giving it a new, fresh lick of paint and an nice new blue illuminated Kris Mari sign above the entrance doesn't cut it when it comes to the overall guest experience. This hotel should be putting its guest at the forefront of everything, an putting their money to better use like making sure the tvs have more than just 3 tv channels - BBC News - which was on a loop, Rai 1 (an Italian channel) and Planeta RTR - that was on mute all the time - granted we are not there to watch tv, but come on, whats the point in having a tv in the room if its only got 3 channels on it??? - its like being back in the early 1980's. The tv should be showing alot more channels in other languages for all guests. There is also no kettle in the room - this should be a basic as most hotels have kettles, an it would be nice in the morning or on an evening to have a coffee. The mattress is hard, pillows are hard, i asked for 2 softer pillows but that proved a waste of time as i got given 2 hard pillows, making it even harder to sleep. Talking of harder to sleep - one thing, the main thing really which is my main gripe about the Kris Mari is that if you want air conditioning, you have to pay for it!, you never used to but over the last few years, the hotel have started charging you - to me this is wrong, its just a way the hotel tries to squeeze even more money out of you. The alternative is to leave your patio door slightly open, but then you run a high risk of being bitten by mosquitos that enter your room at will. The Wi-fi signal strength here is weak in comparison, something i have mentioned on numerous occasions in previous reviews - the best signal is in the lobby or by the pool , if you expect to get a signal in your room, forget it. An it wasn't my phone as this was the case on 3 separate mobile phones and a laptop. The floors in the room could also do with a good mopping and the water from the shower smelt an the shower easily gets blocked. The chrome metal toilet roll holder had sharp edges to it - i scratched my arms a few times, very dangerous - this needs looking at as they need filing down. Also the Mens toilets downstairs on the very lower ground floor where the shower rooms are, the locks on the toilet doors do not work - surely, this is a basic necessity as it is peoples privacy. The sunbeds could be more comfortable an not so lightweight. I hope the hotel management are reading this - and act upon it. On the plus side, the Kris Mari is in a great location, its quiet, an is very very close to the beach, we are talking a matter of yards. Your room does have a mini fridge in it (though the hotel will no doubt take that out of every room soon or start charging a cold tax on it). Jenny who works at the bar is lovely, an is always on hand to meet your requirements drinkswise. The bold headed chap who works at the poolside bar always has a smile on his face and is great to talk to. Talking of the poolside bar, not only can you get drinks there but also food up to 5/6pm. I had Fish and Chips, an it was only 6 Euro's (see photos). The swimming pool is a good size, its not massive but its good enough. An besides, because the Kris Mari is a Cleopatra chain of hotels you have full use of the pools at the other Cleopatra chain of hotels - The Superior and The Classic. The Superior being the nearest hotel to the Kris Mari as it is an immediate right to the Kris Mari entrance. Despite all its negatives, i still find myself going back to the Kris Mari year after year.
