  There is no universe in which this is a 3 star hotel

  This place is not even up to par for 2 stars, let alone 3. Granted, Ive seen worse hotels, but NEVER one that is allegedly 3 stars. Where to begin...? The place looks like it was furnished at Salvation Army. The furniture is cheap and old and beat up. The TVs are small and have like 3 inch plastic bezels around the screen. They dont even sell these TVs anymore. (Not to mention we went through three remote controls before we got one to work.) Oh, and the TVs are cable-locked to these old nightstands. Im serious, a pawn shop would give you MAYBE $8 for one of these TVs, and the hotel is still worried about people stealing them. Which should give you a bit of a hint as to what the crowd is like... Even the remote controls are bolted shut, so you cant change (steal?) the batteries. Every wall and fixture in the place is what I can only describe as nicotine yellow. The place doesnt allow smoking, but youd never be able to tell by the color of everything. Its like walking around with a sepia filter glued to your eyeballs. Oh, and the low-hanging popcorn ceilings are just precious. There is no actual thermostat in the room either. Just some box unit with knobs and buttons that look like an Atari. Overall, the place is kind of gross. It was in bad need of a remodel 20 years ago. Now...they should probably just bulldoze it and start over. There are MUCH nicer places for the same or less money. The staff were nice. Theyre young and quite friendly. And it was pretty obvious that they knew the place was a dive and that they felt bad about it.

  Excellent value for money in this price category

  I think that when writing a review it is important to consider the cost and value for the price bracket and in this regard the Clarion Suites score highly. We stayed for 3 nights and our room was much bigger than we expected with a separate living room and kitchenette, reasonable size bathroom with over bath shower and good counter top space plus a separate vanity area with good lighting. It wasn't plush but perfectly functional with good air con and a comfortable bed. Breakfast is included in the room rate and was pretty good including fresh fruit and hot items. There is also a free 'social ' between 5 and 6.30pm with snacks and up to 4 beers or glasses of wine or soda per person. And there are delicious free cookies available throughout the day in the lobby. There is also free parking, an indoor pool, small gym and laundry on site. The Clarion Suites are only 2/3 miles from the centre and 10 mins walk from a park and the lake with a bike/walking path which leads straight to downtown if you fancy some outdoor exercise. For $110 per night in August we felt we got great value for money and wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

  Lacks attention to details

  This hotel was perfectly serviceable, but there is a lack of attention to small details easily rectified. The sheet we were given on arrival with password details etc was just torn and ragged .. minor but ought not to have been given out and in the room we had a toilet roll with just a few sheets left on. My real concern was I asked for a non pet friendly room. I was told wed been allocated the top floor as they never put pets up there. It was odd up there. The room was clean but totally soulless. We couldnt put a finger on it but it was like staying in a disused hotel. It was just empty feeling and disconcerting.

  Wonderful venue when attending a convention at Alliant

  The staff are amazing. I had a one bedroom suite and it was clean and well appointed. There was lots of room to relax and spread out. The breakfast was also a big plus and well worth it, with good variety. They also have a free happy hour each evening with free drinks and snacks. Plenty of parking and having an internal walkway to the convention centre was very convenient considering winter came early. I'm already planning on staying there next October.

  Great!

  The room was great with the separate room with door. The pull out couch was comfortable. The lobby get together was awesome. The shuttle for nearby restaurants was a nice convenience. The pool and hot tub were great. The continental breakfast was awesome. All around great place to stay.
