  Rest stop for the night.

  The hotel doesn't have an elevator so it would've been difficult for my wife who is disabled to be on any other floor but the first. The lady st the desk was very nice and got us a room in the extended stay area of the hotel. The room was very nice with a kitchenette. The pool isn't heated and was very cold. Breakfast bar ends early at 9:00 am.

  Old rundown & now a weekly rental

  Clarion used to be a top flight Choice hotel. We made reservations here because we couldn't get anything closer to Morgantown WV because it was homecoming for the Volunteers...If you follow a GPS you'll never find this place. Signs are covered by weeds. The room was clean, the staff was great but no matter what you can't change old & run down. Bed was excellent as was breakfast. Floor in room 122 was the worst we ever stayed in. Wife had white socks on & when she removed her shoes within 15 minutes the bottoms were black. Had to ask housekeeping to vacuum twice on the second day.

  1st time

  Stayed at the Suburban end of the property last visit. Wasn't impressed, so tried the Clarion end this time. This was better - able to move around in the room - kitchen in the Suburban made it too crowded for two people - would have been good for only one person. The Clarion had adequate room for 2. This met all the basic needs - not fancy by any means. Furniture showed wear, but adequate and functional. Like the Suburban, no electrical outlet at the desk. If you want to plug in, either use the night stand, or bring an extension cord. Free breakfast buffet was also adequate, but would have liked a little variety on the eggs and sausage. Breakfast area was nice.

  YIKES! Don't stay here!

  This is supposed to be a "3 star hotel." Don't believe it. From a distance it looks imposing, situated high on a hill overlooking the valley and the town. Up close the place is down right creepy! It's the perfect setting for a cheap "Film Noir" mystery movie. It seems it was once nice but now completely neglected and worn. All around the place the landscaping was utterly neglect and weeds took over. Inside the motel there was a general smell of mustiness and mildew. My room: the sink was cracked, the stopper didn't work, the bathroom ceiling was stained, the carpet was stained and in dire need of deep cleaning, the faux "Colonial" furniture was so dated. Worst of all the curtains were torn and in shreds - I kid you not! This place desperately needs updating, to say the least. They rent by the week and the month. During the COVID-19 crises the restaurant is closed, they only serve "breakfast" there. This place is depressing. The hallways are dark and gloomy. An eerie shabbiness permeates the place. To be fair the bed was comfortable and the A/C worked fine. I will never stay there again!

  No bugs or masks but dirty

  $63 is way too much for this rundown smoke-smelling (tho they claim it's smokefree) hotel. The woman who checked me in was very kind! I was tired from a long drive day and she was understanding of that. However I was disappointed that no staff or guests wore mouth/nose coverings. Im traveling emergency to help family; otherwise would respect quarantining. Im appreciative of hotels that have stayed open. But with the two old drunk guys in the lobby holding super-sized canned beer yelling at the clerk to order them a limo - on a Monday night in WV??? - and the filthy room ... ugh. There are stains throughout the carpet, which feels sticky on bare feet (was quick to get my shoes back on). There are spot stains on the wallpaper and the curtains and in the bathroom. Plus mold in the shower tile grout And on and on. This is not representative of a Choice Hotel. Choice should be embarrassed by this place!
