Unexpectedly interesting bar flies and conversation.I was on a really silly road trip, traveling from Montgomery AL to pick up a Mom dog and pups from a shelter in San Antonio, to prevent them from being euthanized. Like the Eagles say, it was late, my head grew heavy and my eyes grew dim, so I used Hotels.com to book a room, at a place where I could also find something to eat and drink. It certainly looked more like hell than heaven, when I pulled in, intimidatingly dated, grubby and the lumpy parking area stuffed with tractor trailer rigs. I stuck my head in the bar and found out I had sadly missed the food option at the in house restaurant but the bar was still operational, and surprisingly friendly, the most like a British Pub in acceptance and greetings, than any bar I have been in Stateside. They gave me info on all the local food places that would deliver that late, I went from thinking I had made another epic mistake, to really enjoying my visit. The room was quite nicely updated, and I was glad to spend the night at this hidden gem. I dont usually go to bars alone, but this one was so unintimidating, I figured a quick drink would help me unwind from the hours on the road...I met an Able Seaman on shore leave, an ex Wal Mart Executive, a disabled veteran who was sharing her "take out" meal with a young man who was one of those poor salespeople recruited and shipped around in vans to neighborhoods to sell magazine subscriptions (essentially indentured servants) and some bearded trucker salty dog who was in his cups at the far end of the counter. The barmaid was young and feisty, the drink was inexpensive, "go cups" were encouraged, and all in all, after a day alone driving I was thoroughly entertained! I would most certainly go there again, if I ever get stranded in the alien refinery land, that is the outskirts of the metropolis of Houston....

Very Comfortable Place To UnwindClarion Inn in Channelview is one of those places that is just right if you are looking for a night or a few of comfort and a place to relax and unwind. On our arrival, the front desk staff was prompt and eager to get us settled in, and with that, I want to make a note for those unprepared- there is a non-acceptance policy for debit cards. They will only accept cash with a $100 deposit or valid credit card. On the plus side, there is an ATM about 20 feet away that has a decent fee. Without going too deep into the issue, a few bad apples spoiled things for everyone, and in that light for them the policy makes perfect sense. Our room had some of the most comfortable beds I have been on in a while, comparable to higher level chains, and lend themselves to a good nights sleep. Your wifi connections will also please you, as the speeds are certainly above par which makes remote working easy. One thing I should point out is the low count of channels, while they have most of the usual local channels and some premiums, they had none of the usual ones we watch, and do not have PBS (Public Broadcasting). Our Roku worked well enough to circumvent that. The bathrooms were clean, and both the housekeeping staff and the maintenance team were out doing their thing when we arrived, so they are putting forth the effort to stay on top of things. The pool was clean and apparently quite popular, as I am sure many pools in Houston will be this time of year. There is also a bar and restaurant in this hotel, and I did not have the opportunity to go to either of them during my stay. Perhaps next time, as we will definitely come back.

Perfect stay for the situationIf you are going to the Astros game, this is the perfect hotel if you are coming from the east. Check in was a breeze and the workers were nice. The room was great for the price. The beds were so comfortable and the AC was cool. Only slightly bad thing was the breakfast was lacking but for the price that was fine. Overall, I would recommend this hotel and I will stay again here soon.

Labor Day WeekendI travel alot and usually stay at a Clarion Inn Brand Hotel. This was my first time staying in Channelview. Due to the fact it was a holiday weekend I reserved the first available room. The girl(s) at the front desk didn't greet nor speak to me when I arrived other than to ask "Can I Help You". Wasn't very nice during my check in and didn't even tell me the room number I had to ask for it. The room had a very funny odd smell when I entered but it disappated after few hours. The room was mostly clean but wasn't as clean as Clarion Inn rooms usually are. The bathroom could've used some more cleaning but wasn't in to bad shape. But overall I had a pretty good nights rest especially for what I paid for the night. I like the fact that they had security that was visible and doing a good job. I would only stay at this location if I had too but I'll continue to stay at Clarion Inn Brand Hotels.

Warning: DO NOT STAY HEREThis hotel is listed on hotel.com and hotwire.com as a 3 star. At VERY best it is a 1 star hotel that is dilapidated, dirty and unsafe! The ladies at the front desk were nice but didn't tell me the phones/wifi were down when i checked in. As soon as i rounded the front of the building to proceed to my room i knew i was in trouble. The parking lot and grounds were unkempt and dirty. I didn't feel my car would be safe there overnight. The stairs were rusted and dilapidated. There were doorknobs and locks missing from many rooms around mine. The lock wasn't secure from inside my room. there was toilet paper stuffed in the bathroom vents. The tub wouldn't drain and there was no hot water at 3pm. There was no phone or WIFI. The carpet was filthy. There was food left in the refrigerator. I went straight back to the front desk and asked for a refund and it was given very easily. I could tell the lady had to do this frequently.
